COSTA MESA, Calif. – The Costa Mesa Police Department (CMPD) rearrested Thomason yesterday, May 17, 2017, at a Long Beach residence for possessing child pornography. Thomason was originally arrested five days prior for operating a Butane Honey Oil lab (BHO).
On May 11, 2017, CMPD and Costa Mesa Fire & Rescue (CMF&R) were dispatched to a residence in the 2200 block of Avalon in response to a fire. Upon arrival, a small fire was observed and CMF&R entered the yard and residence to put out the fire. While doing so they located Thomason in the backyard with burns to his arms. They also observed numerous items that led them to believe the single-family residence was being used as a lab to process marijuana into honey oil. The house contained paraphernalia typically found in a BHO lab. Thomason was subsequently transported to the Orange County Global Medical Center and treated for the burns. Once released, he was arrested and booked on May 12, 2017, and bailed out shortly thereafter.
During a search warrant service at the Avalon residence, CMPD officers seized Thomason’s cellphone, which contained multiple images of child pornography.
Additional warrants were then written specifically for items related to child pornography. During the search warrant service at Thomason’s residence in Garden Grove, additional items seized contained child pornography.
