Pendleton District Gets New Lieutenant

Pendleton – When former Pendleton District Commander, Lieutenant Tom Dujmovich, recently accepted a new position in the South Zone Command Office, it left an opening for Pendleton District Commander. Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter filled that position this week, announcing that Special Operations SWAT Sergeant Tony Delello had been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant, to serve as the commander of the Pendleton District.

Delello was selected for his new position based upon a competitive selection process that included written testing, oral interview, seniority, education, and past job performance. Lieutenant Delello, a Hamilton County native, graduated from Carmel High School in 1989, then Indiana State University in 1994 with a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice.

He began his career with the Indiana State Police in 1995, graduating from the academy in December of that year.  He was first assigned to the Lowell District, then transferred to the Pendleton District in 1997 where he was assigned to Hancock County as a trooper.

Lieutenant Delello was promoted to the Central SWAT Team in 1997, where he served as a trooper until 2008 when he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant of the Central SWAT Team. Lieutenant Delello and his family reside in Hancock County.
