The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

May 12th

1044 Hours: Officer Fredstrom recovered an Acura Legend that was reported stolen out of Fremont on the 5700 block of Mowry Avenue.

1604 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks investigated the theft of personal property from a vehicle on the 38300 block of Amaryllis Place.

May 13th

0813 Hours: Officer Wang contacted and arrested a 62 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrants. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0944 Hours: Officer Hogan contacted and arrested a 33 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrants. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1922 Hours: Officer Slater responded to a battery in progress in the Big Lots parking lot, 36782 Cedar Boulevard. Neither party requested prosecution; however a 31 year old Newark male was arrested for obstructing a Police Officer and being drunk in public. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2318 Hours: Officer Simon observed a battery in progress while conducting a parking lot check of O’Sullivan’s Sport Bar, 5660 Thornton Avenue. Neither party desired prosecution and both parties were released to responsible drivers to be driven home.

0425 Hours: Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 60 year old transient male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0438 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated an attempted theft of a 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer on the 5600 block of Saint Mark Avenue.

May 14th

0839Hours: Officer Wang investigated a window smash burglary at TLT BBQ, 39257 Cedar Boulevard. The loss is cash from the safe.

0927 Hours: Officer Hogan contacted and arrested a 25 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0942Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated a vandalism incident at Ashley Interiors 5588 Central Avenue.

1027 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated a burglary on the 5800 block of Thornton Avenue. The loss is copper wire.

1417 Hours: Officer Wang investigated a stolen blue 1991 Honda Civic license ( CA License #3NIY354)on the 36600 block of Darvon Street.

1922 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a residential burglary on the 35100 block of Charwood Court. Entry was made through an open window. A blue 2008 BMW 528i 4D (CA license# 6MOU251) was stolen along with various electronic items and jewelry.

2127 Hours: Officer Slater investigated a stolen 2003 Chevrolet Silverado (CA license # 7C13651) on the 35600 block of Lido Boulevard.

2150 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated a road rage incident that began on Highway 84 near I-880. Both vehicles exited at Thornton Avenue, stopping on the off-ramp where the suspect punched the victim in the face. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his moderate injuries.

2250 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a residential burglary on the 6600 block of Garrone Avenue. The loss was two game consoles and games.

2338 Hours: Officers responded to a burglar alarm at Public Storage 35360 Fircrest Street. Officers located an open storage unit. The loss is unknown at this time.

0514 Hours: Officer Pacheco documented a non-injury collision on Mowry Avenue near Alpenrose Street.
