Weekend Update: CMPD had a busy weekend responding to three different incidents among other calls

On Saturday, May 13, 2017, at approximately 12:19 a.m., CMPD officers were dispatched to a large party, "rave," at an unoccupied commercial building in the 3300 block of Harbor Blvd. after numerous subjects forced entry into the building. As officers arrived on scene, numerous subjects fled on foot and vehicles. Officers stopped approximately 43 subjects on the property.

Kevin Mayorga, 20, Anaheim, was arrested for trespassing, resisting officers, and being in possession of a concealed and loaded firearm. Officers arrested and booked 10 subjects for trespassing. Another 31 were arrested, cited and released for trespassing. Another was arrested, cited and released for trespassing and being in possession of a controlled substance. In total, officers arrested 34 adults and nine juveniles.

Yesterday, May 14, 2017, at about 6:15 a.m., CMPD officers responded to the 2000 block of Tustin Avenue regarding a hit and run traffic collision involving parked vehicles. Witnesses reported the driver got out of the car and fled on foot. Officers located the suspect nearby, Joshua Thomas Long, 34, Costa Mesa.

Further investigation revealed the vehicle was not registered to Long. The residence of the registered vehicle owner in the 200 block of Cabrillo Street had been burglarized but had yet to be reported. The loss was the vehicle and the ignition key. Evidence left behind at the burglary scene appeared to tie the hit and run suspect to the burglary and auto theft. Long was arrested and booked on suspicion of residential burglary, auto theft, and leaving the scene of a traffic collision.

Last night, May 14, 2017, at approximately 8:20 p.m., CMPD officers responded to Estancia High School after an alarm was activated. Officers located an open door and found two male subjects, Alexander Alvarez and Augustin Trujillo-Contreras, both 18, from Costa Mesa. Trujillo-Contreras was attempting to force open a locked interior door. Alvarez was attempting to hide in a nearby office. Both subjects were removed and searched. Alvarez was in possession of a Hyundai key belonging to a stolen vehicle. Trujillo-Contreras was in possession of items believed to be stolen from inside the school.
