Police Blotter May 1st through May 8th

May 1st

Auto Burglary- 2200 Block of Alva Ave:
An officer reported an unknown suspect shattered the back window of the victim’s vehicle and rifled through the vehicle. There was no property loss reported. The incident occurred in between 4/30 @ 2200 and 5/1 @ 0525 hours.

Auto Burglary- 2700 Block of Tulare Ave:
An officer reported an unknown suspect shattered the back window of the victim’s vehicle and removed property. The theft occurred in between 4/30 @ 2330 and 5/1 @ 0830 hours.

Grand Theft- 6060 Central Ave. (Nation’s):
At 0958 hours, responded to Nation’s for a theft detail. He reported an unknown suspect stole tools from the back of the victim’s pick-up truck. The theft occurred in between 0915-0955 hours.

Vandalism-11135 San Pablo Ave. (United States Postal Service):
At 1015 hours, an officer responded to the US Post Office for a vandalism report. The RP advised in between 4/28 @ 1800 and 4/29 0600 hours, unknown suspect shattered a window in the front of the business.

Shoplifting-1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky):
At 1150 hours, an officer responded to Lucky for a subject who consumed food inside the store without paying. The suspect was described as being a BMA, 30-40 years old, white Lakers cap, black t-shirt, blue jeans and carrying a black duffle bag. He was last seen walking towards San Pablo Ave. Officers circulated the area and did not locate the suspect.

May 2nd

Petty Theft- 11794 San Pablo Ave. (Marshalls):
Officers were dispatched to Marshalls for a known shoplifter. While en-route, the suspect fled the scene in a black Ford pick-up driven by another male. Responding officers located the vehicle on San Pablo Ave. and Moeser Ln. During an infield show-up the passenger, the 39-year-old male Oakland resident was identified as the suspect and placed under Citizen’s Arrest. The merchandise was located in the bed of the pick-up and returned to Marshalls. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police station and released on a citation.

Domestic Violence – Hotel Mira Vista 6009 San Pablo Ave:
At 2126 hours the victim and her boyfriend, a 34-year-old male from Stinson Beach, whom she has a 1-year-old child with, got into an argument. The male tried to grab their child, who was seated in the victim’s lap, but the victim refused. The male then grabbed the victim’s face causing minor injuries. An El Cerrito police officer was able to contact the male via cell phone. The male stated he was at the McDonald’s restaurant in San Pablo. El Cerrito police officers contacted the male there and arrested him. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle (Recovery) – 11545 San Pablo Ave:
At 0245 hours, an Officer located an unoccupied Honda Fit that was reported stolen out of Berkeley on 4/29.

May 3rd

Shooting Into An Inhabited Dwelling - 6800 Block of Cutting Blvd:
At 1036 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residence being struck by a bullet. The resident was doing dishes when she noticed a piece of copper in the sink. The victim located a hole in the front window of the residence. It appeared the bullet was likely shot somewhere in Richmond.

Auto Burglary- 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens):
At 1310 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. In between 1100 and 1245 hours, an unidentified suspect smashed the window of a parked car and stole a laptop computer.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle - 6500 Block of Cutting Blvd:
At 1345 hours, a Community Service Officer located an unoccupied 2009 Mazda CX-7 reported stolen to the Richmond Police earlier in the day.

Residential Burglary- 2000 Block of Tapscott Dr:
At 1702 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary that occurred within the previous hour. An unidentified suspect kicked the front door and several other doors within the house.

Grand Theft – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At approximately 2107 hours, three male juveniles, approximately 17- years-old, entered the store with backpacks. As one of the juveniles acted as lookout, one of the other juveniles manipulated the locks to the glass alcohol cases and gained access. The juveniles removed several bottles of alcohol from the case (totaling over $1500.00) and concealed the alcohol in their backpacks. The juveniles fled the store, northbound towards the Del Norte BART station. El Cerrito police officers circulated the area for the juveniles, but were unable to locate them.

May 4th

Auto Theft – 3000 block of San Mateo Ave:
At 0714 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto theft. In between 2100-0700 hours, an unidentified suspect stole a green 1997 Honda Civic.

Auto Theft Recovery - 3200 San Mateo St:
At 0751 hours, an officer located an unoccupied stolen 1998 Infiniti i30.

Burglary (Residential) 1300 Scott St:
At 0845 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. The victim reported that an unidentified suspect forced the basement door of a residence under construction and stole tools.

Warrant Arrest – Safeway 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 2107 hours, El Cerrito police officers responded to unwanted subjects loitering in front of Safeway. A 19-year-old male from Oakland was contacted and found to have a warrant for his arrest out of Vallejo CA. The male was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Battery Arrest – 7400 block of Park Vista Ave:
At 0043 hours El Cerrito police officers responded to a residence for a call of a battery. A 17-year-old male juvenile was upset with his parents for throwing away his marijuana. During the argument the juvenile punched his father in the face. His father attempted to restrain him against a wall, but the juvenile began elbowing his father in the back. His father released the juvenile from his hold and the juvenile began to slap his father in the face. The juvenile was arrested, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Juvenile Detention Facility in Martinez.

May 5th

Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Ave / Fairmount Ave:
At 2134 hours an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 46-year-old transient man for a misdemeanor warrant. The man was booked into County Jail.

DUI/Hit and Run - Cutting Blvd./Peerless Ave:
At 2319 hours Officers were sent to the 400 blk. of S. 49th St. regarding a hit and run collision that had occurred in the City of El Cerrito. Upon arrival it was determined that a vehicle was rear ended on Cutting Blvd. near Peerless Ave. Prior to exchanging information one vehicle drove away from the scene and was followed by the other involved driver to S. 49th St. where the suspect vehicle stalled. The driver, a 32-year-old Richmond man, was contacted and it was determined he was DUI. The man was transported to ECPD for processing and cite released.

Warrant Arrest - 11450 San Pablo Ave (Safeway):
At 2326 hours Officers were sent to Safeway on a report of a theft that had just occurred. It was determined no theft occurred, however a 25-year-old transient woman was determined to have two misdemeanor warrants. The woman was booked into County Jail.

May 6th

Domestic Violence - 3200 blk. Santa Clara Ave:
At 1748 hours Officers responded to a 911 call of a verbal argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend. Upon arrival it was determined that a 45-year-old El Cerrito man had assaulted girlfriend during an argument. The man was taken into custody and booked into County Jail.

Public Intoxication- Blake St / Lexington Ave (BART Path):
At 1949 hours an officer located a 37-year-old Hercules man passed out on a bench. It was determined the man was extremely intoxicated and refused to leave the area because he wanted to sleep. The man was taken into custody and booked into County Jail.

Residential Burglary - 6800 Blk. Blake St:
At 2014 hours Officers were sent to the residence on a report of a residential burglary that had occurred. It was determined the suspect forced entry into the residence and conducted a ransack, stealing jewelry, small electronics and a saxophone.

Warrant Arrest- San Pablo Ave / Wall Ave:
At 0252 hours an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 49-year-old transient male for a felony warrant. The man was booked into County Jail.

May 7th

Shoplifting - 11565 San Pablo Ave. (Walgreens):
At 1831 hours Officers were sent to the business for a shoplifting that had just occurred. A 27-year-old Oakland man was located a short distance away and identified as responsible for the theft of hygiene products. The man was subsequently placed under citizen arrest and cite released from ECPD.

Shoplifting/Warrant Arrest - 11450 San Pablo Ave. (Safeway):
At 2324 hours Officers were sent to the business for a shoplifting that was in progress. Upon arrival a 49-year- old Richmond woman was contacting leaving the store and found to be in possession of items she had not paid for. The woman provided a false name but was subsequently identified and determined to have two felony warrants and one misdemeanor warrant. The woman was placed under citizen arrest for the shoplifting. The woman was booked into County Jail.

May 8th

Shoplift Robbery - 11565 San Pablo Ave (Walgreens):
At 1801 hours, Officers responded to a report of a shoplifting that had occurred. Upon arrival it was determined that the suspect filled two bags with merchandise and when she attempted to leave she was confronted by the store manager. The store manager and the suspect struggled over one of the bags, during which time the suspect swung her elbow at the manager. The manager was able to take possession of one of the bags. The suspect fled with the other bag towards BART. Suspect was described as a black female adult, approx. 25-30 years old, 5-01, thin build, wearing a black shirt and colored bandana.

Attempted Robbery- Moeser Ln / Elm Ct:
At 1808 hours Officers responded to a report of an attempted strong arm robbery. The victim, a 17-year-old juvenile, reported walking west on Moeser Ln. near Elm Ct. The victim was approached by two subjects who demanded he give them his property or they would assault him. The suspects did not display any weapons and the victim refused to comply. The suspects demanded victims property several times, each time he refused to comply, and the suspects fled on foot. One suspect fled to an awaiting vehicle which was parked on Elm Ct. The other suspect ran from the area on foot. Suspect #1 was described as a black male, 20 years old, 5-10, 180, black shirt, dark green pants, wearing a black ski mask. Suspect #2 was described as a black or Hispanic male, 20 years old, 5-08, 130 wearing dark clothing. Suspect vehicle: Late 90’s, green Ford Taurus, tinted windows with damage to the driver side.

Auto Burglary - 250 El Cerrito Plaza (AT&T):
At 2124 hours the victim reports a window smash auto burglary occurred between 2050-2100 hrs. The right front passenger window of the victim vehicle was smashed with an unknown object and a cell phone, key card and misc. paperwork was removed from the vehicle.
