Drug Arrest

(Etowah County, Alabama) An Altoona man has been arrested after leading deputies on a foot chase through his marijuana growing operation, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

Randy Neil Moore, 35, of Altoona, is charged with one count of first degree possession of marijuana, a felony, resisting arrest and attempting to elude, both misdemeanors.

Deputy Dakota Hammett was patrolling the area of Brown Avenue, Altoona, attempting to make contact with a male who had fled from deputies in the afternoon of May 9th. Moore was found walking in the 3000 block of Brown Avenue.

When Deputy Hammett attempted to speak with him, Moore took off running. Ignoring verbal commands to stop, the foot chase went around Moore’s residence and ended near the roadway.

While retracing his steps searching for lost duty equipment, Deputy Hammett discovered multiple marijuana plants outside the residence. Drug Task Force Agent Jeremy Lasseter arrived on scene where approximately 200 marijuana plants were found outside and inside the house.

Moore was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center on a $25,000 cash bond for possession of marijuana and $1,500 property bond for resisting arrest and attempting to elude. Moore had been out on bond for drug trafficking and manufacturing a controlled substance.
