The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
May 9th
0709 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated an auto burglary on the 35400 block of Dumbarton Court.
0737 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated the theft of mail from multiple mailboxes on Jacaranda Drive.
1028 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated a check fraud incident at Grocery Outlet, 36601 Newark Boulevard.
1301 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated an auto burglary on Sycamore Street at Carter Avenue. The loss is a shopping bag of clothing and a ukulele.
1741 Hours: Officer Herbert recovered a Chevrolet Tahoe that was reported stolen out of Fremont on the 5600 block of John Muir Drive.
2308 Hours: Officers responded to Safeway, 5877 Jarvis Avenue on a report of a subject stealing charcoal. Officer Slater located and arrested a 25 year old transient male in possession of the charcoal. The suspect was charged with shoplifting, possession of a controlled substance and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
