The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

May 4th

1158 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 36 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1352 Hours: Officers Fredstrom and Jackman contacted and arrested a 45 year old Newark male for possessing a controlled substance, possessing drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1458 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 30 year old Newark male for possessing a controlled substance. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0012 Hours: Officer Slavazza recovered a 1995 Saturn reported stolen from Hayward on Hill Street.

0148 Hours: During a probation search on the 6800 block of Cedar Boulevard, Officers arrested a 31 year old San Mateo female for her outstanding warrant. A 33 year old Newark male was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were issued citations and released at the scene.

May 5th

0622 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated an auto burglary on the 37100 block of Sycamore Street. The loss is a backpack and an IPad.

1159 Hours: Officer Warren recovered a reported stolen Chevrolet Trailblazer on the 8100 block of Wells Avenue. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

1357 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 23 year old Newark male on Cedar Boulevard at Haley Street for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

0023 Hours: Officer Khairy recovered a reported stolen Chevy Silverado Pick-up in the park and ride lot at 34867 Ardenwood Boulevard.

0135 Hours: Office Wang arrested a 28 year old Fremont male for driving under the influence on Newark Boulevard. The suspect was issued a citation at the Police Station and released to a family member.

May 6th

0725 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated a stolen Silver 2007 Dodge Magnum (CA license #6GRZ192) on the 38800 block of Echium Place.

1400 Hours: Officer Hogan recovered a Subaru Forester that was reported stolen out of San Ramon on Sycamore Street. The registered owner was notified of the recovery.

1440 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 38 year old Union City male for driving under the influence. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1933 Hours: Officer Wang investigated a hit and run collision that occurred in the parking lot of Chase Suites Hotel, 39150 Cedar Boulevard.

2151 Hours: Officer Simon investigated a hit and run collision on Cedar Boulevard near Thornton Avenue.

0048 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a collision on Newark Boulevard and Brittany Avenue. An Eastbound driver ran a stop sign into a DUI driver headed Southbound on Newark Boulevard. A 29 year old Newark female was booked into the Fremont Jail for driving under the influence. One person was transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

0158 Hours: Officer Simon contacted and arrested an 18 year old San Leandro female for driving under the influence. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

***Newark Police Officers and Fremont Police Officers combined efforts to quell street racing in the North end of town into the night. Several vehicles were stopped and issued warnings or citations. ***

May 7th

1014 Hours: Officer Posadas investigated a stolen white Ford F-150 (CA License #6N51622) from the Chase Suites Hotel, 39150 Cedar Boulevard.

1219 Hours: Officer Mavrakis investigated an auto burglary at the Double Tree Hotel 39900 Balentine Drive. The loss is a suitcase and laptop computer.

1319 Hours: Officer Hogan responded to the NewPark Mall on a report of animal locked in a vehicle with the windows closed. Vehicle entry was made (without breaking the glass) and the dog was brought to the security office for shelter and safekeeping. The owner responded to the security office to the retrieve the dog and was arrested by Officer Hogan for animal cruelty. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

2117 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 6200 block of Mayhews Landing Road. A 45 year old Newark male was contacted and arrested for violation of a restraining order and subsequently booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
