MISSING MAN FOUND

An alert police officer found a missing 97-year-old Philadelphia man Wednesday evening driving on Georges Road. The man was reported missing after he never showed up to the hospital his wife was taken to. At 9am Wednesday morning, the man was following an ambulance which was transporting his wife to a Philadelphia area hospital. Relatives notified police when the man never showed up at the hospital.

South Brunswick Police were notified at 5pm that the missing was driving a silver Malibu somewhere off Exit 8A of the New Jersey Turnpike, according to his cell phone records. Officer Michael Leung was directing traffic at a motor vehicle crash on Georges Road near Harvey Road at about 5:45 p.m. when he saw the Malibu drive past. He motioned the driver to pull over and determined it was the missing Philadelphia man. The older man was lost and tired, but otherwise fine. He was taken to police headquarters, where he was given food and his family eventually came to pick him up.

Chief Raymond Hayducka credits Officer Leung with finding the driver. “This man was 40 miles away from where he intended to go and had been driving for hours unsure of where to stop. Officer Leung’s actions led a man to found safely and a family to be reunited. It was great work on his part.”
