Police Look for Info on burglary, hit-n-run, unlocked car thefts. Meeting to discuss Rt 1 travel lane expansion May 15th

Burglary

South Brunswick Police are investigating a burglary to a home on Oak Tree Road Saturday evening. At 11pm police responded to a burglar alarm for the home. Arriving officers found the front door open and one bedroom ransacked. Police determined the suspect had gained entry to the home by pushing in the screen on a second floor window. The homeowners were not at home at the time of the burglary. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Dennis Yuhasz at (732) 329-4000 ext. 7485.

Unlocked Vehicles Entered

Police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles at night. Police received eight reports of unlocked vehicles being entered last Thursday and Friday. Several of the thefts were reported in the Whispering Woods Complex as well as Royal Oaks Development. In each case the suspect rummaged through the vehicle and took items easily accessible.

Hit-n-Run of Bicyclist

Police are looking for information in reference to a hit-n-run of a bicyclist on Saturday. The 67 year old bicyclist from East Brunswick was riding north on Route 27 near Raymond Road when a vehicle struck his rear tire and knocked him from the bike. The victim was thrown to the roadway and received abrasions and contusions to his back and shoulder. He was treated and released from an area hospital.

A witness described the vehicle as a white pickup truck, possibly a landscaping truck, with commercial writing on the side. The truck turned onto Raymond Road and was last seen headed towards Route 1.

Anyone with information is asked to call Officer William Beard at (732) 329-4000 ext. 4446.
