Safety Hero Program
The Safety Heroes Program is an interactive and fun program for students in Pre-K and Kindergarten, created by Mrs. Leone of the Dr. Albert Bean School, during which students learn about safety in and out of their homes and schools. The program also teaches them about Stranger Danger, unsafe situations, family passwords, how and when to use the 9-1-1 system, the dangers of medicine/drug look-a-likes and continuing the basics on how to respect themselves and others.
Classes at both the Dr. Albert Bean Elementary School and the John Glenn Elementary School are presented in a series of lessons by the teachers of both schools: Mrs. Leone, Mrs. Fabrico and Ms. Diaz and Mrs. Reuter. Pine Hill Police Officers visit during these lessons to assist with the classes and to enhance the child’s safety knowledge and to establish trusting relationships with the officers, ultimately making them more comfortable with Officers within the community.
Recently all classes at both schools graduated to become official Safety Heroes. Chief Winters, Lt. Stettler, SRO DiGiacomo and Ptl. Brennan were all in attendance to hand each of the students their official certificate and a Junior Police Officer’s Badge for their hard work and dedication to making their lives safer.
