Newark Police Department celebrates “National Volunteer Week” April 23 – 29, 2017

The Newark Police Department extends their gratitude to the R.A.V.E.N. (Ready and Active Volunteers Engaged in Newark) and Police Explorers for their many hours of volunteerism. In 2016 our volunteers donated in excess of 8,000 hours to the Department. Our R.A.V.E.N. volunteers patrol the streets to act as extra “Eyes and Ears” and help keep our community safe. In addition, they perform vacation home checks while our citizens are away, they are On-Call for natural disasters helping our officers with traffic control, assist in the Records Department, Graffiti Abatement and many other aspects of support work for the department. R.A.V.E.N. volunteers and the Police Explorers are always on hand to assist at special events throughout the city, Newark Days and National Night Out to answer questions and address citizen concerns. Newark Police Department salutes and thanks our Volunteers for their generous support.
