The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

April 18th

0717 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated the theft of a blue 1993 Honda Civic (CA License #3DBK336) on the 36200 block of Darvon Street. There are no suspects at this time.

0845 Hours: Officers Jackman and Rivas conducted a probation search on the 37200 block of Walnut Street. The Officers arrested a 41 year old Newark female for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The Officers also arrested a 31 year old Newark female for possession of drug paraphernalia. Both suspects were issued citations and released at the scene.

0845 Hours: Officer Horst investigated an auto burglary on the 8500 block of Mahogany Drive. The loss is a purse.

0930 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated an auto burglary on the 8100 block of Mahogany Avenue. The loss is a laptop computer.

0948 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated an auto burglary on the 8200 block of Mandarin Avenue. The loss is a backpack and laptop computer.

1300 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated an auto burglary on the 6900 block of Jarvis Avenue. The loss is a set of golf clubs.

1439 Hours: Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 26 year old transient female for her outstanding warrant on Baine Avenue at Olive Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail. Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 38 year old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia at the same location. The subject was issued a citation and released at the scene.

1654 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 45 year old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia during a probation search on the 5800 block of Ravenwood Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.

2138 Hours: Officer Cervantes investigated an attempted garage burglary on the 6300 block of Potrero Drive. The door lock was vandalized but entry to the garage was not successful.

0142 Hours: Officer Slater responded to a suspicious person call on the 36900 block of Papaya Street. Officer Slater contacted and arrested a 28 year old transient female on her outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
