March 20th

Auto Burglary – Peet’s Coffee, 9895 San Pablo Ave:
At 0640 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. An unidentified suspect smashed the window of a Subaru and stole a laptop and a backpack.

Commercial Burglary – Huey’s Dry Cleaning, 10148 San Pablo Ave:
At 0857 hours, an officer responded to the report of a commercial burglary. Two suspects entered the business and reported that a black female, approx. 20 years old, 5’03” 140 lbs wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt entered the business and distracted the staff. The second suspect, a black male, approx. 20 years old, thin build, wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt entered and walked back into the employee area. He began to rummage through the back of the store and stole the keys. When confronted, the suspect fled out the front.

Warrant Arrest, Shoplifting – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1607 hours, an officer was conducting extra patrol when he was flagged down about an uncooperative shoplifter. A 41-year-old Richmond woman was stopped by security leaving the store with two bottles of laundry detergent and toilet paper. She claimed she had brought one bottle into return and it was a misunderstanding. The manager watched the video and saw she did enter the store with a bottle of detergent but left it on the shelf. When the discarded bottle was checked, it was discovered to be empty. The woman was wanted on a shoplifting warrant as well. She was booked and released on a citation.

Possession of a controlled substance, Possession of paraphernalia – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1902 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 36-year-old Sacramento man for possession of methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe.

Attempted residential burglary – 5300 block of Cypress Ave:
At 2002 hours, unknown suspects cut open the victim’s window screen and attempted to open the window. The victim was home and scared off the suspect. The suspects are described as follows:
(S1) – Hispanic male adult, 20 years old, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt
(S2) – Black male adult, 20 years old, wearing dark clothing
(S3) – Black male adult, 20 years old, wearing dark clothing

Warrant arrest – Dylans Way:
At 0159 hours, an officer conducted a suspicious vehicle check and arrested a 56-year-old Vallejo man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

March 21st

Auto Burglary – 2600 block of Tassajara Ave:
At 0926 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. In between 0820 – 0910 hours, an unidentified suspect smashed the window of a vehicle and stole a laptop and backpack. The victim’s credit cards were later used at Wal-Mart in Richmond.

Disorderly conduct – 670 EC Plaza:
At 1249 hours, an officer responded to the report of an unwanted subject. A 46-year-old Albany man was contacted and determined to be heavily intoxicated. He was arrested and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Robbery – Lucky’s 1000 EC Plaza:
At 1609 hours, an officer was flagged down about a robbery that occurred approximately 5 minutes earlier. The suspect stole several energy drinks and was confronted by the manager. The suspect threw some of the drinks on the ground and threatened to shoot the manager. The suspect fled on foot. However, at approximately 1900 hours, the same suspect stole clothing from the Goodwill store in Albany and was apprehended by Albany PD. They remembered the earlier description of the robbery suspect and called ECPD. The 40-year-old Berkeley man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant arrest – 900 block of Liberty St:
At 1916 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 34-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Warrant arrest – 11555 San Pablo Ave:
At 1928 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 56-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

March 22nd

Vandalism – 700 block of Ashbury St:
At 0650 hours, an officer responded to the report of two vehicle windows being broken. The damage occurred overnight.

Grand Theft – 1000 block of Liberty St:
At 0806 hours, an officer responded to the report of a con. The victim received a call from what he believed was an IRS agent. The Agent told him he was under phone arrest and had to pay several thousand dollars in gift cards as bail. The victim purchased the cards and sent pictures of the cards to the suspects.

Theft of a Firearm – 11315 San Pablo Ave:
At 0838 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft of a firearm. The victim, a transient, living in his car met the suspect at the soup kitchen in Richmond. While he was at the Post Office, the suspect stole his fanny pack containing an unloaded .38 special with wood grips from his vehicle’s trunk. The suspect was described as a black female adult, approx. 45 years old, missing teeth, with her hair in a front bun wearing a gray jacket and blue jeans. The victim only knows her as “Coretta.”

Assault with a deadly weapon – 10794 San Pablo Ave:
At 1441 hours, Officer Ware responded to a hospital on the report of a stabbing. The victim and his girlfriend were leaving Marshalls when they were confronted by a transient white adult female, approx. 60 years old. 5’11” wearing camouflage clothing and described as dirty. He followed them to their car and then brandished a box cutter at them. He chased the victim around the car, slashing him superficially. He was able to get into his car and flee.

Driving under the influence – Central Ave. / Santa Clara St:
At 0116 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 40-year-old Vallejo man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober relative.

March 23rd

Residential Burglary – 1000 block of Everett St:
At 1326 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. In between 1130 – 1325 hours, an unidentified suspect scaled a fence and entered the backyard. The suspect cut a window screen and entered the residence. Once inside they conducted a ransack and stole electronics and cash.

Vehicle Burglary – 2500 block of Tamalpais Dr:
At 1334 hours, an officer responded to the report of an identified suspect burglarizing a USPS vehicle. In between 1315 and 1317, an unidentified suspect smashed the window of a truck and stole a tray of mail and a GPS enabled scanner. The scanner was tracked and located 2 blocks away.

Public Intoxication – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1534 hours, an officer was dispatched to the report of an unwanted subject driving the motorized shopping cart around and damaging product inside the store. A 26 year old Richmond man was found to be intoxicated. He was arrested, booked and transported to the MDF.

Public Intoxication, Fighting – 6300 block of Fairmount Ave:
At 1607 hours, Officers responded to a fight involving four subjects beating up another subject. The fight was over when officers arrived. A 55 year old Richmond man refused to stop for officers and was found to be intoxicated. A 33 year old Richmond man and a 32 year old Richmond man was found also to be intoxicated. They were arrested, booked and transported to the MDF. The victim refused to prosecute for the fight.

Check Forgery, Possession of a controlled substance – 11299 San Pablo Ave:
At 1646 hours, an officer responded to the report of a forgery in progress. A 39 year old San Pablo male attempted to cash several forged checks. He was found in possession of numerous other financial documents and suspected methamphetamines. He was booked and released per 849 PC pending additional follow up investigation.

Warrant arrest – Cutting Blvd. / S. 50th St:
At 0220 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the passenger, a 51-year-old Richmond woman for two outstanding warrants. The woman was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released.

March 24th

Warrant Arrest - Central Ave./San Mateo St:
At 2247 hours an Officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 40-year-old Vallejo man for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Driving under the influence – Moeser Ln. / San Pablo Ave:
At 0201 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 44-year-old El Cerrito man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober relative.

Grand Theft – Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At about 0830 hours, three juvenile suspects stole over $1500 in cosmetics from the store. Suspect 1 was a black female juvenile, 14-16 years old, and wearing a grey hoodie on her head and a black backpack. Suspect 2 was a black female juvenile, 14-16 years, wearing an olive green zip up jacket with a hood, and a black backpack. Suspect 3 was a black female juvenile, teens, with blue and black hair.

Stolen Vehicle – 5600 block Ludwig Ave:
Between 3/23/17 at 2300 hours and 3/24/17 at 0600 hours, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s 1995 Subaru Impreza.

Auto Burglary – Peet’s, 9895 San Pablo Ave:
Between 1000 and 1010 hours, an unknown suspect shattered the passenger side front window and stole a backpack.

March 25th

Warrant Arrest- Cutting Blvd./Peerless Ave:
At 2247 hours an Officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 37-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Package Theft- 7100 Block Potrero Ave:
At 1800 hours an officer responded to the report of a package theft. A witness described seeing a male subject wearing a red flannel shirt and sunglasses, remove a package from the porch of a residence. The subject got into an awaiting silver 4-door Volkswagen which drove out of the area.

Residential Burglary- Dylans Way:
At 2021 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. In between 3/23/17 1100 hours and 3/25/17 2015 hours an unidentified suspect entered the residence and stole electronics.

Theft from Vehicle- 2500 block Alva Ave:
At 2049 hours an Officer responded to a report of a theft from an unlocked vehicle. An unidentified suspect entered the vehicle and stole cash and a credit card.

Located Missing Person- El Cerrito Plaza:
At 0030 hours, an officer located an adult who had been reported missing. The man was reunited with his family.

Warrant Arrest- Cutting Blvd./I-80:
At 2247 hours an Officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 44-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released on a citation.

False Information to Peace Officer, Warrant (X2) – Denny’s, 11344 San Pablo Ave:
At 0957 hours, an Officer responded to an unwanted subject and contacted a 37 year old male from San Francisco. He initially lied about his name. He was found to be wanted on two no cite San Francisco warrants once his true identity was determined. He was booked and then transported to MDF.

March 26th

Possess Controlled Substance / Drug Paraphernalia – 11299 San Pablo Ave:
At 1020 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 55 year old male transient for possession of meth and a glass pipe. He was booked and cited.

Domestic Battery – Hillside Nature Area:
At about 1240 hours, the victim was in the Hillside Nature Area, northeast of Schmidt Lane and Navellier Street, with her 25 year old boyfriend from Oakland. They got into an argument and the boyfriend struck the victim in the face with an open hand, knocking her to the ground, took her cell phones, and fled on a bicycle.

Residential Burglary – 2000 block Tapscott Ave:
Between 3/24/17 at 1400 hours and 3/26/17 at 1330 hours, an unknown suspect enter this residence under construction and stole approximately $3900 worth of tools.

DUI Collision – San Pablo Ave / Moeser Lane:
At 1708 hours, Officers responded to a major collision involving three vehicles. One person was ejected from one of the vehicle. A 20 year old male driver from San Pablo was determined to be driving under the influence and arrested. The passenger who was ejected was flown to John Muir and a driver of a second vehicle was transported to Alta Bates by ambulance.

Assault with a deadly weapon- 6000 Block El Dorado St:
At 1902 hours officers were sent to the address in regard to a physical fight. Upon arrival it was determined that a 62-year-old woman from El Cerrito had struck the victim in the head twice with a glass jar causing injury. The victim was transported to the hospital and treated for her injuries and the suspect was arrested and booked into county jail in Martinez.

March 27th

Residential Burglary – 1600 block Lexington Ave:
At 0904 hours, Officers responded to an interrupted burglary. The victim found a 40-year-old man from San Francisco in her room, ransacking the room and placing her property in his pockets. A perimeter was established and attempts to get the suspect to come to the front door and surrender were unsuccessful. The apartment complex was evacuated and crisis negotiators were deployed but also unsuccessful. A K9 was used to located the suspect who was located and surrendered in a back bedroom. He was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and then transported to MDF.

Robbery – Big 5, 11060 San Pablo Ave:
At 1020 hours, Officers responded to a robbery at Big 5. The suspect 39 year old male suspect from Richmond was located at San Pablo Ave and Cypress Ave and detained. The suspect had placed merchandise in his pants and left without paying. The manager attempted to recover the property but retreated when the suspect made threats to harm him. The suspect was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and transported to MDF.

Stolen Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Resisting – Junction Ave / Knott Ave:
At 1451 hours, Officers responded to a suspicious person/vehicle. Upon arrival the contacted a 40 year old man from Richmond who was painting various parts of the vehicle. The plates on the vehicle came back to a Ford on in the 2000 block of Junction Ave but the vehicle was a 2001 Chevy Astro Van. A check of the VIN revealed it was reported stolen to San Francisco on 3/17/17. An attempt to detain the suspect resulted in a foot chase which ended in the front room of a residence in the 1900 block of Key Blvd. The man was arrested and determined to be in possession of methamphetamines during an search incident to arrest. He was booked at the ECPD and transported to MDF.

Auto Burglary – 6600 block Hill Street:
Between 0000 hours and 1600 hours, an unknown suspect broke the left rear window of the victim’s Dodge Journey and stole sunglasses.

Weapon Brandishing, Resisting – Big 5, 11060 San Pablo Ave:
At 1645 hours, Officers responded to a brandishing at Big 5. The suspect threatened several employees with what was determined later to be a BB gun and fled northbound on a bicycle. The 32-year-old male suspect from Berkeley was located near Potrero Ave and S. 56th Street and fled when officers attempted to detain him. He fled east on Potrero Ave to San Pablo Ave where an officer blocked his path. The suspect abandoned the bike and attempted to flee on foot but he was taken into custody and positively identified during an infield show up. He was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and released on a citation to AMR for a mental health evaluation.

Burglary – 600 block Liberty St:
Between 3/19/17 at 1500 and 3/20/17 at 1500, an unknown suspect entered the victims storage shed and stole suitcases.

Grand Theft- Verizon Wireless, 410 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1836 hours Officers responded to a reported theft of cell phones. It was determined the suspect entered the store, selected (3) Google phones worth approx. $2200 and fled the store.
