Police Arrest Woman in Hit and Run Investigation

Today, Jackson police arrested Natasha Washburn, 36, of Jackson, in connection to a hit and run that left a woman critically injured.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on April 8, Jackson police were called about a pedestrian who had been struck. Officers found a 28-year-old Jackson woman lying partially in the roadway of Old Hickory Cove and Old Hickory Blvd. She was transported to a local hospital, then flown to a Memphis hospital due to the severity of her injuries.

Investigators developed Washburn as a suspect and found her vehicle, which had consistent damage. Further investigation determined that Washburn was driving a white SUV eastbound on Old Hickory Blvd. when she left the roadway and struck the woman as she was also walking east on the sidewalk area of Old Hickory Blvd.

Washburn remains in custody at the Madison County Jail awaiting bond. She is scheduled to be formally arraigned at 8 a.m. Monday, April 17 in Jackson City Court on the following charges: leaving the scene of an accident, driving uninsured, failure to maintain lane of travel, duty to give information and render aid.

The woman who was struck remains in critical condition in a Memphis hospital.
