The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

April 12th

0558 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated the theft of a white 2001 GMC Yukon Denali on the 6300 block of Market Avenue. Officer Slavazza recovered the vehicle later in the shift on Cherry Street. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

0704 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated the theft of a grey 2004 GMC Sierra (California license #8X44516) on the 37000 block of Cherry Street. There are no suspect leads at this time.

1128 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated the theft of a silver Ford F150 4X4 Super Cab with a camper shell (California license #7A61984) on the 36000 block of Toulouse Street. There are no suspect leads at this time.

1346 Hours: Officer Warren investigated an auto burglary on the 36000 block of Darvon Street. The loss is a cell phone.

1444 Hours: Officer’s contacted and arrested a 37 year old transient male on the 36600 block of Beutke Drive on his outstanding warrants and for obstructing a Police Officer. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1644 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated the theft of a wallet from an unlocked vehicle on the 36000 block of Ruschin Avenue.

1846 Hours: Officer Horst investigated an auto burglary on the 36700 block of Sycamore Street.
The loss is miscellaneous tools.

0158 Hours: Officer Slater investigated a rollover accident on Jarvis Avenue at Haley Street. The driver, a 41 year old Union City male was transported to a local hospital for a medical evaluation. The suspect was issued a citation for driving under the influence and for driving on a suspended license.
