BPD Seeks Community’s Continued Help in Identifying Riot Suspects

On March 4th, 2017 a demonstration was held in Civic Center Park.  This event drew counter-protestors and deteriorated into a series of assaults and physical confrontations between members of various groups.  On March 6th, the Berkeley Police Department shared some of the pictures of those involved in the riotous behavior and asked for the community’s assistance in their identification.  With the community’s help several were identified almost immediately.  As the investigation continues, we are again sharing pictures and asking for the public’s assistance.

Attached are pictures of three individuals that we believe are suspected of committing assaults or other criminal acts.  If you can identify those pictured here, please contact Sgt Jack Friedman at (510) 981-5990, extension 4202.  We are still asking for your videos and photographs of those who may have committed crimes during the event.  If you haven’t already done so, those images can be submitted via the following link: http://bit.ly/berkvideo.   For those of you who have already shared photographs and video from the event, we are grateful for your assistance.

As a result of our collaborative efforts with the community we have obtained 9 arrest warrants and we anticipate obtaining additional warrants later this week for others who were involved.

As we look ahead to future events, the Berkeley Police Department remains focused on protecting the peaceful expression of free speech, to include identifying and locating criminal behavior directed at those exercising their rights.  BPD is committed to taking enforcement action when practical and appropriate before, during and after events.
