Rodeway Inn Shooting Ruled Self-Defense in Ongoing Investigation
 
At 8:40 a.m. on April 7, Jackson police responded to a shooting at the Rodeway Inn, located at 2239 Hollywood Drive.  A 48-year-old man had been shot and was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with a serious injury.
 
Police quickly identified the shooter as a 29-year-old man. He told Investigators that he was inside a room at the Rodeway Inn when the older man attempted to enter the room armed with a handgun. The younger man was also armed with a handgun and shot the older man. Physical evidence at the scene supported this statement.
 
Investigators spoke with District Attorney’s Office, and they agreed that the shooting was self-defense. The 29-year-old man was released with no charges. The 48-year-old man remains hospitalized. The investigation is ongoing.
