High Wind Watch issued for Friday for East and West coasts of Jefferson County. Details http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/sew/
The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a High Wind
Watch, which is in effect from late Friday morning through early Friday
evening.
* WIND...Possible south wind 20 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60
mph.
* SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS...Tacoma...Seattle...Everett...Port
Townsend...Whidbey Island...The San Juan Islands...
Bellingham...Westport...Ocean Shores...Hoquiam...
Copalis Beach...La Push...and Forks.
* TIMING...Strongest winds are most likely Friday afternoon.
* CONFIDENCE...
- Moderate Confidence - advisory level winds (25 to 35 mph, with gusts to 55 mph) will occur over the Coast, the North Interior, and the Puget Sound Region.
- High Confidence - this will not be a widespread extreme wind event.
- It is possible, but less likely, that isolated high winds (sustained speeds 35 to 45 mph, with gusts to 60 mph) will occur in some areas.
- Precise estimates of wind strength and location still depend on factors such as the exact track and strength of a low pressure center and local ridge/valley effects.
A High Wind Watch means there is the potential for a hazardous
high wind event. Sustained winds of at least 40 mph...or gusts of
58 mph or stronger may occur. Continue to monitor the latest
forecasts at http://www.wrh.noaa.gov/sew/
