The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

April 5th

0551 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated a window smash burglary at Campanella Restaurant, 34903 Newark Boulevard. No loss was determined.

0620 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated an auto burglary on the 37000 block of Magnolia Street. The loss is miscellaneous tools.

0722 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated a non-injury auto accident on the 7000 block of Thornton Avenue.

0726 Hours: Officer Warren contacted and arrested a 35 year old Newark female for her outstanding warrant on the 35400 block of Dumbarton Court. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0923 Hours: Officers responded to Edgewater Drive and Norwich Place for a reported suspicious person. A 43 year old Hayward male was contacted and arrested for his outstanding warrants and booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0925 Hours: Officer Warren investigated the theft of four wheels and tires from Premier Fiat, 5633 John Muir Drive.

1151 Hours: Officer Khairy conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle at the Bridgeport Apartments, 36826 Cherry Street and subsequently arrested a 22 year old Fremont male for driving without a license and having false vehicle registration. The suspect was issued a citation and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

1812 Hours: Officer Johnson contacted and arrested a 36 year old Union City male for possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

0445 Hours: Officers Geser and Slater responded to a non-injury traffic collision in the Safeway parking lot (5877 Jarvis Avenue) involving a vehicle that sheared off a fire hydrant.
