(Etowah County, Alabama) A Gadsden man has been arrested for domestic violence and burglary, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Brian Christopher Hassell, 33, of Gadsden, is charged with one count of second degree burglary and domestic violence strangulation/suffocation, both are felonies, and one count of third degree domestic violence, a misdemeanor, and violation of a protection order,” investigator Brandi Fuller said.

Hassell allegedly broke into a residence on Tabor Road and hid in a closet inside a room. He then proceeded to jump out of the closet, grabbing the female victim by the throat, chocking her and threatening to kill her. Running away, the female locked herself inside another room. Hassell then broke his way through the room’s door and assaulted a male victim with an oxygen tank.

Hassell is being detained in the Etowah County Detention Center without bond.
