The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

March 30th

1306 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 53 year old Newark male for possession of illegal fireworks during a probation search on the 5000 block of Dorking Court. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail. The Alameda County Bomb Squad responded to the location to dispose of the fireworks.

1624 Hours: Officers were responded to 35233 Newark Blvd, for a robbery that just occurred. A female was robbed of her purse and suffered a stab wound to her arm. The victim was driven to a local hospital for treatment by a friend.

1949 Hours: Officers responded to Macy’s, NewPark Mall on a report of a robbery. A good description of the getaway vehicle was broadcast to surrounding Police agencies and the suspect vehicle was stopped by Milpitas Police approximately four hours after the incident occurred. A 32 year old transient male and a 38 year old transient female were arrested for burglary and robbery in the second degree. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2030 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated an auto burglary in the Starbucks parking lot, 5741 Stevenson Boulevard. The loss is a backpack containing a laptop computer, calculator and paperwork.

March 31st

0513 Hours: Officer Simon recovered a stolen 1998 Honda Civic on Ardentech Court in Fremont while patrolling the area for “Sideshow” activity. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.

1326 Hours: Community Service Officer Verandes investigated the theft of a blue, 2003 GMC Yukon (CA license # 5BZT562) on the 38000 block of Iris Court.

1803 Hours: Officer Losier investigated a traffic collision on Newark Boulevard near Dairy Avenue. The vehicle collided into one townhome, through an adjoining wall into the next door unit. No injuries were sustained by the driver or either of the occupied residences.

2119 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested a 26 year old transient male for possession of drug paraphernalia and a restraining order violation in the Safeway parking lot, 5877 Jarvis Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

April 1st


1326 Hours: Officer Jackman contacted and arrested a 38 year old transient male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita jail.

1920 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated an attempted theft of a 2006 Chevy Silverado from H and B Investments, 8100 Mowry Avenue. While assisting with the investigation, Officers Simon and Lopez contacted and arrested a 35 year old San Jose female for her outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail. Also contacted was a 28 year old Milpitas male who was issued a citation for his outstanding warrant and released at the scene.

2153 Hours: Officer Losier contacted and arrested a 38 year old Pope Valley male in the Mi Pueblo parking lot, 35156 Newark Boulevard for his outstanding warrant, no proof of insurance and expired vehicle registration. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2228 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested a 20 year old Newark male for possession of cocaine and driving without a license. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0132 Hours: Officer Pacheco seized the license plates off a vehicle for false registration at the Aloft Silicon Valley Hotel, 8200 Gateway Boulevard. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

0208 Hours: Officer Khairy contacted and arrested a 25 year old Fremont female for driving under the influence on Chelsea Drive at Northampton Court. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0334 Hours: Officer’s Losier and Arroyo responded to a solo vehicle collision on Thornton Avenue near Gateway Boulevard. The vehicle driver, his passenger and the drivers parents who had arrived on the scene prior to the Officer’s arrival were all standing near the vehicle. The driver, a 19 year old Newark male and his father, a 48 year old Newark male became combative with the Officer’s. Both suspects were arrested for obstructing a Police Officer and booked into the Fremont Jail.

April 2nd

1119 Hours: Officer Slater investigated a hit and run collision on the 7400 block of Wells Avenue. There are no suspects or investigative leads at this time.

1138 Hours: Officer Germano investigated a hit and run collision on the 36000 block of Locust Street. There are no suspects or investigative leads at this time.

1242 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated an attempted auto burglary on Port Sailwood near Cedar Boulevard. Other than the damage to the window, there was no loss. Several bags in the back seat were untouched.

1907 Hours: Community Service Officer Parks investigated an auto burglary at Sycamore Bay Apartments 37171 Sycamore Street. The loss was miscellaneous electronics.

1920 Hours: Officer Lopez contacted and arrested a 47 year old Newark female for her outstanding warrants. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2347 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 63 year old Newark male on the 36700 block of Olive Avenue for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance. The suspect was issued a citation and released.
