March 31 - 2 Men Arrested in Raritan Township

Hunterdon County Prosecutor Anthony P. Kearns, III, announced the indictment of Matthew Johnson, age 31, of Hampton, and Darren Ader, age 20, of Oxford. On March 23, 2017, Mr. Johnson and Mr. Ader were indicted for 3rd degree Possession of CDS (Methamphetamine), 3rd degree Possession of CDS (Alprazolam), 3rd degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, and 4th degree Resisting Arrest. Mr. Ader was also indicted for 4th degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

On January 27, 2017, Raritan Township Police Officers responded to Kohls Department Store for the report of a shoplifter fleeing from the store. Mr. Johnson fled across Route 202 to a waiting vehicle being operated by Mr. Ader. The subjects attempted to flee the scene but were later arrested by Raritan Township and Flemington Borough Police Officers. Stolen items, drugs, and a pellet gun were recovered from the vehicle.

The filing of a criminal complaint is merely a step in the criminal justice process. The defendant is presumed innocent until the matter is resolved in a court of law.
