Traffic stop leads to arrest of Oakland City man.

On March 30, 2017, at 6:52 p.m. Deputy Daniel Greer observed a yellow Honda four wheeler with a white male driver and a female passenger run a stop sign at the intersection of Columbia and East Street in Oakland City, Indiana. Upon catching up to the vehicle and initiating a traffic stop Deputy Greer discovered that the occupants of the ATV had swapped drivers. During a roadside investigation Deputy Greer ran the 29 year old Zachary Besing of Oakland City through the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and discovered that Mr. Besing’s driver’s license listed him as a Habitual Traffic Violator. At that point Deputy Greer placed Mr. Besing into custody and transported him to the Gibson County Jail. At the Gibson County Jail Mr. Besing was charged with Operating a Vehicle While a Habitual Traffic Violator. The female was also run through the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles and was issued a citation for Driving While Suspended on an Infraction.
Mr. Besing remains in the custody with a $750 bond.

Assisting Deputy Greer in his investigation was Officer Grant Fulkerson of the Oakland City Police Department.
