Car Stop Leads to Gun Arrest
On March 23, 2017 at approximately 12:40pm, a Berkeley Officer and his recruit stopped a black Mercedes at College Avenue and Parker Street, for a number of vehicle code violations. The driver was identified as by his California Driver’s License as Michael Bishop 52, of Berkeley. A computer check revealed that he was driving on a suspended driver’s license. When Bishop was searched, a loaded and concealed revolver was found in his pocket. The revolver was loaded with live rounds and spent casings.
Bishop was arrested for carrying a loaded firearm in public, carrying a loaded unregistered firearm in public, carrying a concealed firearm in public, and driving on a suspended driver’s license.
