Monroe City man arrested after short pursuit.
On March 27, 2017, at 12:26 a.m. Sergeant John Fischer was dispatched to Curtis Lane near Princeton, Indiana to investigate an automobile theft from a residence. Upon arriving at the residence Sergeant Fischer spoke with the victim and they advised that 40 year old Christopher Hill of Monroe City, Indiana was at their residence and took their Beige 2001 GMC Terrain vehicle without their permission. While speaking with the victim Mr. Hill pulled into the drive and noticed law enforcement on scene and fled the scene. Sgt. Fischer attempted to stop the vehicle on Top Hat Road near State Road 64 however, Mr. Hill fled law enforcement in the vehicle, and a short pursuit ended in front of the Princeton Walmart.
Christopher Hill was taken into custody and transported to the Gibson County Jail where he was charged with Auto Theft, Resisting Law Enforcement with a vehicle, and Resisting Law Enforcement (Fighting). Mr. Hill remains in custody on a $1500 bond.
Assisting Sergeant Fischer in apprehending Mr. Hill was officers from the Princeton Police Department, Fort Branch Police Department, and other deputies with the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office.
All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
