MALE ADULT PEDESTRIAN STRUCK AND KILLED BY MOTORIST ON HARBOR BLVD NEAR DATE PLACE
COSTA MESA, Calif. -- On 03/25/2017, at 1406 hours, patrol officers were dispatched to the area near Harbor Blvd and Date Place regarding the report of a traffic collision. Arriving officers confirmed a white Ford Econoline van, which was travelling southbound on Harbor Blvd, had struck a male adult pedestrian who was running westbound across Harbor Blvd north of the intersection. The pedestrian sustained major head trauma and showed a faint pulse.
Officers administered CPR until paramedics arrived. The pedestrian was transported to OC Global, Santa Ana, where he succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at 1451 hours. The driver of the van remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Nearby witnesses informed police the male pedestrian had originally run from the east side of Harbor Blvd, before being struck by the van in the southbound lanes of Harbor Blvd traffic. No parties were arrested or issued citations at the scene. The collision is currently being investigated. The decedent’s identity is being withheld, pending notification to family.
