Prolific Berkeley Drug Dealer Arrested

On 03-16-17 at about 7pm, members of the BPD Investigations Division served a search warrant at a residence on the 3800 Block of Market Street in Oakland.  The subject of the warrant, Anthony Beamon, 35, of Berkeley, was observed leaving the property to go to a car which had stopped in front of the residence.  Beamon retrieved two backpacks from the waiting car.  While he was standing at the car, officers attempted to detain him.  When Beamon saw the officers, he dropped one of the backpacks, ran away in attempt to avoid capture and discarded suspected methamphetamine.  Beamon was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

The backpack he dropped was found to contain his GPS ankle monitor (issued by his bail bondsman) and a loaded .40 caliber pistol.  A computer check would later reveal that the gun had been stolen from in a residential burglary.  The second backpack contained MacBook computers that are believed to be stolen.

Beamon was found to be in possession of sizeable quantities of methamphetamine, heroin, almost $4,000 cash, packaging materials, scales and three firearms.  Additionally, Beamon had a ballistic raid vest which was believed to be stolen, a Taser, as well as other confirmed stolen property and suspected stolen property.

Beamon was arrested for possession for sales of methamphetamine and heroin, both with weight enhancement clauses, enhancement for loaded firearm with meth and heroin, being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition, running a drug house, committing a felony while being out on bail, possession of stolen property, resisting arrest and a misdemeanor court probation violation.

At the time of his arrest, Beamon was out of custody on $770,000 bail from three prior cases, all involving possession for sales of drugs and firearms.

The Berkeley Police Department is extremely proud of the ongoing efforts made by our Special Investigations Bureau and Investigations Division Detectives to keep guns and drugs off the streets.
