“Ashley Carter, 21, of Boaz, and Nikkia Elizabeth Enno, 29, of Gadsden, are each charged with one count of chemical endangerment of a child, which is a felony,” investigator Brandi Fuller said.

Carter tested positive for opiates during labor and delivery of her baby. The Etowah County Department of Human Resources is involved with her case.

Enno has admitted to illegally using methamphetamine while pregnant.
