Press Release: Boat fire, Grand Marina, Alameda

Today, at 11:29 am, Alameda Fire (AFD) received multiple reports of a boat on fire at the Grand Marina, 2000 block of Grand Street.  AFD responded with a First Alarm structure fire assignment and the fireboat. Arriving crews found heavy fire coming from a docked boat, with extension to two neighboring vessels.  Multiple hose lines were used and the fire was quickly extinguished.

Firefighters searched for occupants on all three boats.  A deceased pet dog was found on board the boat with the heaviest fire damage.  There were no reported injuries.

One boat received heavy damage, with minor damage to the neighboring vessels. A total of 22 firefighters responded.

An AFD fire investigator is working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.

Oakland Fire also responded with a rescue boat.  Alameda Police, US Coast Guard and the Grand Marina Harbor Master assisted.
