Advisory

Rt. 213 between S. Flowers Mill Rd. and Woodbourne Rd. is still icy and slippery in spots, use caution if traveling that stretch of road.

Route 213, both directions, between S. Flowers Mill Road and Woodbourne Road is still icy and slippery in a few spots despite several salt and brine treatments. The road is driveable as long as drivers understand the rough weather we just experienced, use caution, maintain a safe speed at or below the posted 45mph speed limit, and keep a lengthy distance between your vehicle and the one in front of you. Be especially careful when changing lanes, do it gradually and slowly, keeping as much distance from other vehicles as you can. The road is not so bad that it needs to be closed. However, there were several accidents on that stretch this morning due to vehicles traveling at too high speeds and following each other too closely given the unfavorable weather conditions. PennDOT has said they are on their way to lay down a brine treatment. 213 is a PennDOT maintained road but due to the icy conditions this morning, township DPW crews did several salt treatments of the road since PennDOT could not respond immediately. Once again, use caution on this stretch of road. Drive safely, slow down, and use good awareness. For that matter, use this advice for every road you're traveling today due to the ice patches on many of them. This particular stretch of 213 may be like this for a day or two until warmer weather arrives.
