Police Blotter February 28th through March 9th

February 28th

Auto Burglary - 9895 San Pablo Ave:
An officer responded to the report that an auto burglary occurred on 02/16/17 at approx. 0610-0620 hrs. Entry was made via window smash and loss was a computer bag and computer.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery - 2600 block of Tassajara Ave:
At 1118 hours, an officer located a green Honda Accord, stolen out of Richmond on 02/26/17.

Grand theft – 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1800 hours, three suspects entered Walgreens and stole over $1500 in cosmetics. They fled the store in a silver vehicle. The suspects are described as follows:

(Suspect #1) – Black female adult, 5’2”, 125 lbs., wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and tan knee high boots.

(Suspect #2) – Black male adult, 6’5”, 200 lbs., wearing blue jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt.

(Suspect #3) – Black male adult, 5’6”, 220 lbs., wearing a grey zip up jacket with the number 83.

Battery – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1900 hours, an unknown suspect punched the victim after the victim accused her of trying to crowd the line. The suspect fled prior to police arrival. The suspect is described as follows:

(S1) – Black female juvenile, 16 years old, grey hat, blue sweatshirt, brown shoes.

Driving under the influence – San Pablo Ave. / Portola Dr:
At 2328 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 27-year-old Richmond man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend.

March 1st

Burglary - 11785 San Pablo Ave:
At 1027 hours, an officer responded to the report of a subject entering Laundryland, prying open the video game machine and stealing quarters. The suspect was described as a BMA, 6’05”, 50-60 years old, wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants and riding a mountain bicycle. The crime occurred at 1610 hours on 02-28-17.

Vandalism - Cutting Blvd / Junction Ave:
At 1252 hours, a parking officer observed 21 year old El Cerrito man applying graffiti on an electrical box. The suspect ran up Junction Ave., then up Hagen Blvd where he tired out and ran back down the hill. He was detained by a responding officer. He was arrested, issued a citation and released.

Driving under the influence – San Pablo Ave / Potrero Ave:
At 1855 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver, a 43-year-old El Cerrito man for driving under the influence of alcohol and marijuana. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober relative.

Warrant arrest – San Pablo Ave / Ohio Ave:
At 1900 hours, an officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested a 29-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Vehicle theft, Forgery – 6050 El Cerrito Plaza:
On 2/24/17, the victim met with a prospective buyer of his vehicle. The victim accepted a cashier’s check for the purpose. The victim deposited the check but quickly learned that the check was fraudulent.

Driving under the influence – San Pablo Ave / Wall Ave:
At 2225 hours, officers were dispatched to the area for a non-injury collision. Upon arrival, an officer found one of the involved parties to be under the influence of alcohol. The officer arrested the 47-year-old Richmond woman and booked her at the El Cerrito Police Department. After booking, she was released to a sober friend.

Grand theft, Forgery – 11400 block of San Pablo Ave:
Approximately one month ago, the victim’s daughter tricked the victim into closing her life insurance account and placing the money into her bank account. Knowing her mother’s bank information, the suspect, a 22-year-old El Cerrito woman conducted a wire transfer to her own account for over $6000. When confronted, the suspect fled the house.

Trespassing, Resisting arrest – 1751 Eastshore Blvd:
At 0036 hours, officers were dispatched to an audible alarm at the vacant business. Officers utilized the El Cerrito Fire Department’s ladder truck to access the roof. Once on the roof, officers spotted an unknown race male hunkered down on a lower roof. Knowing officers located him; the suspect climbed down off the roof and ran from officers on the ground. Officer lost sight of the man as he most likely entered on I-80.

March 2nd

Shoplifting - 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0817 hours, officers responded to the report of three females stealing liquor and diapers at Safeway. The three women were placed under citizen’s arrest. They were booked and released on citations.

Warrant Arrest - 10650 San Pablo Ave:
At 1132 hours, an officer contacted a 27 year old Richmond man on a felony warrant during an unwanted subject call. He was booked and transported to the MDF.

Located Missing Person-11800 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1604 hours, officers were dispatched to the location after an Alameda County social worker located a missing juvenile. The juvenile was reunited with a family friend.

Warrant Arrest and Possess Controlled Substance – San Pablo Ave / Conlon Ave:
At 0038 hours, an El Cerrito police officer contacted a 53 year old male from Oakland on a parole violation warrant. The male was also in possession of methamphetamines. The male was found to be a violent sex offender registrant. The male was cited on the possession of controlled substances charges and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility on the warrant.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Potrero Ave:
At 0338 hours an El Cerrito police officer arrested a 26 year old male from Antioch on an drunk-in-public/indecent exposure warrant out of Contra Costa County. The male was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

March 3rd

Possession of Controlled Substance and Drug Paraphernalia - Moser Lane / Kearney Street:
At 1115 hours, an officer conducted a pedestrian stop and subsequently arrested 46 year old female for being in possession of a controlled substance and a smoking device.

Drunk in Public – Fairmount Avenue / Kearney Street
At 1226 hours, an Officer responded to a man down. The officer arrived on scene and located a 41 year old male from Richmond asleep and heavily intoxicated. The male was transported to county jail for drunk in public.

Drug/ Drug Paraphernalia Arrest- IFO Old Taco Bell, 11965 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2046 hours, an officer arrested a 52 year old transient male for possession of methamphetamine and a meth pipe. He was cited and released.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Avenue / Blake Street:
At 2249 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 40 year old female for an outstanding felony warrant. She was sent to county jail.

Warrant Arrest – Central Avenue / Pierce Street:
At 0008 hours, an officer arrested a 39 year old transient male for a Felony warrant. He was sent to county jail.

Warrant Arrest –To the rear of 11965 San Pablo Avenue:
At 0222 hours, an officer arrested a 51 year old transient female for an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. She was transported to county jail.

Warrant, Drug/Drug Paraphernalia Arrest- Cutting Blvd / Peerless Ave:
At 0401 hours, an officer arrested a 56 year old San Pablo male for an outstanding warrant out of SFPD. He also had a pipe and cocaine in his possession. He was transported to county jail.

March 4th

Burglary - Pic ‘N ‘Pac Liquors 10012 San Pablo Avenue:
At 0734 hours, officers responded to a call of a male who snuck behind the cash register at the business and stole currency out the till and fled on foot.

Warrant Arrest - Baxter Creek Conlon Avenue / Key Boulevard:
At 1231 hours, officers responded to a report of two subjects trespassing. Officer arrived on scene and contacted the males and discovered one of them, a 31 year old male from Richmond, had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest.

Drunk in Public – Moeser Lane / Kearney Street:
At 1139 hours, officers responded to a suspicious persons call and located an adult male who was heavily intoxicated. The male was unable to care for himself and taken into custody and transported to county jail.

Brandishing and Battery – Starbucks 3090 El Cerrito Plaza:
At 1545 hours, officers responded to a fight at the Starbucks. Officers arrived on scene and learned a 56 year old male from Richmond and a 33 year old male from Richmond battered a patron and then threatened him with a knife. Both were taken into custody and transported to county jail.

Robbery- Knott Avenue / Junction Avenue:
At 2055 hours, an officer reports that (V) was walking home on Knott Avenue heading east, just passed Junction Avenue. (S1) and (S2) confronted (V) demanding his property. (V) could not identify if (S1) had a firearm or not, but stated (S1) was holding something that looked like a firearm. (V) gave the suspects his phone, wallet, and backpack.

The suspects fled on foot heading westbound on Knott Avenue. ECPD officers shut down the BART trains and searched the platforms, but did not locate anyone matching the descriptions.

S1: BMJ, 17-18, slim build, 5’8, dark colored clothing, possibly holding a firearm.

S2: BMJ, 17-18, slim build, 5’8, dark colored clothing.

Auto Burglary - Banana Leaf Restaurant, 11880 San Pablo Avenue:
At 2106 hours, an officer reports an unknown suspect shattered the rear window of a vehicle and stole a backpack. The backpack contained a laptop and misc. property totaling $1600.00. TOO: 2000-2100 hours.

March 5th

Theft Arrest, Probation Violation- Trader Joes, 225 EC Plaza:
At 2102 hours, an officer was dispatched to a report of a theft that occurred at Trader Joes. A 39 year old transient male was identified as the suspect and arrested for stealing alcohol. He also has several probation statuses which he violated by stealing. He was sent to county jail.

DUI Arrest - San Pablo Avenue / Cutting Boulevard:
At 0020 hours, an officer found a vehicle parked in the #1 lane of northbound traffic on San Pablo Avenue near Cutting Boulevard. The officer found the driver, a 46 year old female out of Hercules, slumped over in the driver seat. The driver woke up and showed objective symptoms for being under the influence of alcohol. She blew a .19 BAC on the PAS device and was arrested. She provided a blood sample and then was cited and released.

March 6th

Auto Burglary – 9895 San Pablo Ave:
At 0633 hours, an officer responded to the report of two auto burglaries. In between 0620 and 0630 hours, two vehicles were broken into and property removed. A witness reports seeing a black Jaguar without plates, park next to the vehicles after circulating the block.

Possession of a controlled substance – 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1245 hours, an officer saw a couple arguing. One of the subjects, a 38 year old man was on probation with search clause. He was found to be in possession of ½ gram of methamphetamines, three pipes and various credit cards and vehicle registrations. He was arrested, booked and released on a citation.

Warrant arrest – Cutting Blvd / Tamalpais Ave:
At 1440 hours, an officer contacted a 29-year-old Richmond man during an unwanted solicitor’s call. The subject was wanted on a misdemeanor warrant. He was arrested, booked and released on a citation.

Trespassing – 3100 block of Yosemite Ave:
At 1538 hours, an officer responded to the report of an unwanted subject sleeping in a carport. Despite numerous requests to leave, the subject a 64 year old transient man refused to do so. He was intoxicated and belligerent. He was placed under citizen’s arrest and transported to the MDF.

Grand Theft - 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1630 hours, an officer responded to the report of a shoplifting that had just occurred. Three black females, approx. 35 years old, stole $2,080 worth misc. hygiene products. They fled in a white Pontiac vehicle.

March 7th

Residential burglary – 900 block of Liberty St:
At 1711 hours, officers responded to the report of a residential burglary that occurred 10 minutes prior. A juvenile was home alone when she heard a noise on the side of the house. She looked out the window and saw (S) prying off the window screen. He told her he was trying to get water for his dog. He fled westbound through the yard. The suspect was described as a black male with long braided hair, approximately 25 years old, wearing a gray tee shirt.

Warrant arrest – San Pablo Ave. / Huntington Ave:
At 1830 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 34-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was issued a citation in the field and released.

March 8th

Battery, Trespassing, Resisting arrest – 10082 San Pablo Ave:
At 1842 hours, officers were dispatched to the business after a 36-year-old Richmond man slapped a server and refused to leave the business. Officers arrived and spoke with the man. Officers attempted several times to get the man to speak with them outside but he refused. Ultimately, the man began disobeying orders from the officers and the decision was made to place him under arrest. When officers grabbed his arms, the man tensed up and attempted to reach for his waistband. Officers took the man to the ground and handcuffed him. The man continued to thrash his legs around, kicking objects around him. Due to his erratic and combative behavior, he was placed in a restraint device and transported the Martinez Detention Facility.

March 9th

Residential Burglary – 2700 block of Arlington Blvd:
At 0857 hours, Officers responded to the report of an interrupted residential burglary. A black male, approximately 25 years old, 6’02”, 240 pounds, wearing a black hooded jacket with a purple design, dark jeans shattered the rear sliding glass door of the residence. He was scared away by the resident. He fled in a gray Nissan Quest minivan (2004-2009) model with Monument paper plates and a white sticker in the left rear window. There was no loss.

Stolen Vehicle Recovery – 400 block of Liberty St:
At 1348 hours, a CSO responded to the report of an abandoned stolen vehicle. He recovered a stolen 1996 Toyota Tacoma.

Vehicle theft – 11755 San Pablo Ave:
On 2/21/17, a 22-year-old Oakland man and a 34-year-old Hayward man purchased a vehicle. However, the check they put as the down payment bounced. The vehicle has been inputted into the stolen vehicle system.

Public Intoxication – Nations 6060 Central Ave:
At 0101 hours, an officer arrested a 55-year-old Richmond man after he was found to be so intoxicated that he was unable to care for himself. The man was transported the Martinez Detention Facility.

Located missing person – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0108 hours, an officer located a 26-year-old Oakland woman that had been reported missing on 3/3. The woman was despondent and stated she suffered from an undiagnosed mental illness. The woman requested to speak with a psychologist and was therefore transported to the Contra Costa Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

Driving under the influence – San Pablo Ave / Conlon Ave:
At 0205 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 34-year-old San Pablo man for driving under the influence of alcohol. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and released to a sober friend.
