Chemical Endangerment Arrests

(Etowah County, Alabama) Two local women have been arrested in connection to chemical endangerment of a child, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.

“Christa Wagnon Garrett, 39, of Rainbow City, and Jennifer Lynn Marchant, 32, of Gadsden, are each charged with one count of chemical endangerment of a child, which is a felony,” investigator Brandi Fuller said.

Garrett tested positive for methamphetamine while pregnant. Marchant admitted to illegally taking Suboxone and smoking marijuana while pregnant.

Both women were booked into the Etowah County Detention Center on $10,000 cash bond. As a condition of their bond, each must successfully complete a drug treatment program and will be monitored by Etowah County Community Corrections.

The Etowah County Department of Human Resources (DHR) is involved with both cases.
