North Brunswick Emergency Management Winter Storm Statement

A powerful Nor’Easter will be affecting the area on Tuesday, which will bring heavy snow, gusty winds and low visibilities. A Blizzard Warning is in effect from 8 p.m. tonight until 6 p.m. Tuesday for snow accumulations of 12 to 18 inches or more.

Snow will begin around or just after midnight and become heavy overnight into Tuesday morning. Snowfall rates of 1.5-3 inches per hour are likely with near blizzard conditions expected. Sleet may mix in briefly around daybreak. Around midday the heavy snow will become lighter. It will then taper down to snow showers overnight Tuesday.

There is the threat of power outages due to the weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines. In case of power outages, please contact PSE&G directly at 1-800-436-7734. You can also visit their website at https://www.pseg.com/home/customer_service/outage_info/outage_grid.jsp.

Make sure that flashlights are operational with extra batteries and you have extra blankets. If you have a generator, do not use it indoors or in a garage.

The Township of North Brunswick urges residents to please move all vehicles off the streets to allow for our Public Works crews to clean the roadways. This will allow for wider paths in case of emergency traffic. Also, remember to clear your sidewalks.

Residents who live on a designated Snow Emergency street MUST remove their vehicle from the street. Township Police will strictly enforce this no parking ban and cars will be towed for those who do not comply.

Please click on the link below for a list of snow emergency streets and partial snow emergency streets.

Residents may park their vehicles at Babbage, Sabella or JFK parks. Please note that vehicles should NOT be parked at any of the Township school parking lots.

Please do NOT throw snow into the street when clearing your property. Township ordinance prohibits putting snow back into the roadways.

If you live near a fire hydrant, please help the Fire Department and your neighbors, by shoveling around the hydrant. Clear a wide enough perimeter around the hydrant, about 3 feet, for firefighters to work. This could be a life saving measure!

North Brunswick OEM will be monitoring the latest developments on the storm and will provide further updates as conditions warrant.
