Winter Storm Watch until 08:00PM Wednesday

...SIGNIFICANT SNOWFALL POSSIBLE TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY... .A strong low pressure system will track up the Northeast coast on Tuesday and will spread heavy snow into Maine and New Hampshire Tuesday into Wednesday. Confidence is increasing that this storm will track somewhere between the 40N/70W benchmark and Cape Cod...which increases confidence that a good portion of the forecast area will see greater than 6 inches of snow. The threat for widespread double digit snowfall continues...and for that reason winter storm watches remain in effect until there is a high confidence in forecast snow totals. Near the coast northeast winds will be gusty...and near-blizzard conditions are possible for a time Tuesday evening. ...WINTER STORM WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM TUESDAY MORNING THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING...

* HAZARD TYPES...Heavy snow.

* Accumulations...Greater than 6 inches of snow is possible Tuesday into Wednesday. Confidence is increasing that snowfall totals will approach double digits over a large portion of the area...especially southeast of the mountains.

* TIMING...Snow will begin Tuesday morning. The heaviest snow and most significant impacts are expected Tuesday night. Snow will taper off Wednesday.

* Temperatures...In the lower 20s.

* Winds...North 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* IMPACTS...Potentially heavy snow Tuesday into Wednesday may lead to dangerous travel conditions.
