Major Winter Storm Expected Late Monday All Day Tuesday

South Brunswick Office of Emergency Management Director Chief of Police Raymond Hayducka and Township Manager Bernard Hvozdovic issued the following advisory for the approaching winter storm. All the weather forecasts are calling for a significant snow storm to impact our community starting late Monday night and going all day Tuesday. We anticipate most activities and events to be cancelled on Tuesday. Based on the forecast we see few people being able to travel on area roadways Tuesday.

WeatherWorks Forecast for South Brunswick – MAJOR WINTER STORM

With record cold temperatures possible today and still cold weather into tomorrow, the stage will be set for a powerful March Nor'easter. The exact track of the system will need to be fine tuned. However, expect a rain/sleet/snow mix to begin around midnight. Any mixing will then quickly go over to very heavy snow for the pre-dawn hours and into the Tuesday commute (if there is one). Come the afternoon, the system will attempt to quickly pull out. By this time, 10"-18" of snow is expected, with plenty of blowing and drifting snow thanks to strong sustained winds. Even after the system departs, numerous snow showers will follow overnight. Additional light accumulations are likely from this, as re-freeze develops.
