Teen Dating Violence Awareness & Prevention

Recognizing signs of a friend or family member that may be experiencing abuse:
- You notice their partner calls them names or puts them down
- If they talk to other people, their partner gets extremely jealous
- They apologize for their partner’s behavior and make excuses for it
- Controls what they wear or how they look.
- You’ve seen fights escalate to breaking or hitting things.
- Their weight, appearance or grades have changed dramatically.
- They have injuries they can’t explain or the explanations they give don’t make sense.
During the assembly students participated in a group activity during which they each held a sign describing a dating abuse behavior. As a group, they aligned the described behaviors in order of severity, then provided their perception of how to identify the action.
