Cayuga Drug Arrests by Vermillion Co Sheriff

Type of Case:   Probation Check Lands Three in Jail – Search Warrant Executed

Details:  Deputy Hall and Marshal Lewis attempted to perform a probation check on a female who is on active probation in Vermillion County at the request of Probation Officer Ron Stateler.  Upon arrival at the residence Officers were met by a female at the door identified as 31-year-old Brandie Niccum of Cayuga who told officers that the female they were looking for had just left.  Officers requested that Niccum make contact with her and ask her to return for a check.
 
As part of the probation check for the residence, Deputy Hall and his K-9 partner Byron checked the perimeter of the residence.  K-9 Byron alert in three places on the outside of the residence for the presence of narcotics. Deputy Hall located a bag containing a syringe, a spoon in the downspout of the garage, and a bag containing several items of drug paraphernalia as well as narcotics. 
 
With this information, Deputy Hall asked that the residence be secured and asked Niccum if anyone else was inside and was told no.  Deputy Hall then applied and received a search warrant for the home of Cynthia Reno located at 218 West Court Drive in Cayuga.

At 3:31 PM, the Warrant signed by Vermillion County Judge Bruce Stengel was executed and several items used in the consumption and sale of narcotic drugs was found.

A male identified as Charles W. Randolph (32) of Crawfordsville was also located in the residence and was found to have two active warrants, one for a Parole Violation through the Department of Corrections where he is on parole for manufacturing methamphetamine, and one for failure to appear in Montgomery County. 
 
A complete search of the residence and a vehicle belonging to Niccum in the driveway officers found a total of 13.1 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine, 3.2 grams of suspected marijuana, several sets of digital scales, and multiple items of paraphernalia.  Also located throughout the house and car were multiple different prescription narcotics.

3.        Possession of Methamphetamine – At least 10 grams (Level 4 Felony)
4.        Possession of Marijuana (Class B Misdemeanor)
5.        Dealing in Methamphetamine – At least 10 grams (Level 2 Felony)
6.        Unlawful Possession of Syringe (Level 6 Felony)
7.        Possession of Precursor (Level 6 Felony)
8.        Possession of a Schedule I,II,III,IV,or IV Controlled Substance (Class A Misdemeanor)

All three of these individuals are currently being held in the Vermillion County Jail on $100,000.00 bond with 10% allowed.  

The female that the probation check was for, never arrived and will remain unnamed at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
