Car Burglaries

Hello Neighbors,

Criminals have been targeting our neighborhoods given the high concentration of vehicles that are left unlocked daily. It's a crime of opportunity in which perpetrator(s) can window shop in a matter of seconds. It takes really no effort to pull on a door handle. And the opportunities abound when it comes to escaping undetected. Property crimes are the hardest crimes to solve because they offer the least amount of evidence, and generally, don't have an eyewitness. Typically, nobody sees anything, nobody calls, and nobody reports anything.

The best ways for our resident’s to protect themselves are to practice removing their valuables. Out of sight. Out of Mind. We must band together in order to curtail and/or get a 'handle' on the these burglaries so we can eradicate this crime shopping spree; therefore, we are humbly asking each of you to visit with your neighbors and remind them to LOCK (your vehicle) | TAKE (your keys) | HIDE (your belongings).

Last night, we had the following vehicle burglaries resulting from unlocked doors:

• Southwood Ct BTW 03/8/17 10pm & 03/09/17 7:30am;
• Hidden Lake Dr BTW 03/8/17 5:30pm & 03/9/17 7:20am; and
• East Ridge Ct BTW 03/8/17 10pm & 03/9/17 at 7:45am.

Help us help you by properly securing your vehicles. It takes a community to protect a community. Thanks again for helping Grapevine be the safest community! Jason
