It has been brought to our attention that Blount County residents may be on the receiving end of Nixle alerts from Etowah County.

Please read the following email that we received from Nixle concerning the issue.

Also, a map is attached with Nixle's update zip code data.

Hi Etowah County Sheriff's Office,

Thank you for contacting Nixle support.

We are aware that some residents recently started receiving Etowah County Nixle notices who reside in Blount County. This is the result of a location data update project Nixle recently underwent to ensure all of our zip code boundaries were up-to-date.

The change resulted in a few zip codes extending across both counties. While this is technically accurate, we understand residents on the far west of 35121 for example may not care that a small corner overlaps into your county. We are currently working with Blount County and our developers to decide which zip codes can be re-assigned to one county or the other in the best interests of everyone involved.

We will update you once we've made the appropriate changes. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.
