The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

March 7th

0625 Hours: Officer Warren investigated a stolen silver 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer (CA license #7VHY437) on the 35900 block of Bettencourt Street.

1031 Hours: Officers responded to the Check Center, 5710 Thornton Avenue, on a report of two subjects trying to cash stolen checks. Officer Horst arrested a 25 year old Newark male for possession of stolen property, burglary and forgery and a 19 year old Newark female was arrested for possession of stolen property, burglary, forgery, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The checks came from a stolen pickup that was recovered on Oak Street, a short distance from the suspect’s residence. Both suspects were booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1330 Hours: Officer Warren contacted and arrested a 43 year old Fremont male for package theft. The suspect had stolen a package on Taro Terrace and was attempting to get away when intercepted by Officer Warren. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail for resisting arrest and package theft.

1821 Hours: Officer Cervantes investigated an auto-burglary at the AMC Theatre, NewPark Mall. The loss was $1300 in construction tools.

1850 Hours: Officer Cervantes investigated an auto burglary at Lee’s Tofu House, 6050 Mowry Avenue. The loss was a backpack and laptop computer.

1940 Hours: Officer Smith investigated an auto burglary on the 6100 block of Jarvis Avenue. The loss is a laptop computer.

2019 Hours: Officer Geser investigated an auto burglary at the Campanella Restaurant, 34903 Newark Boulevard. The loss is a laptop computer and personal documents.

0333 Hours: Officer Geser contacted and arrested a 31 year old Newark male for possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The suspect was issued a citation and released.
