February 20th

Warrant Arrest - 8700 block of Terrace Dr:
At 1415 hours, an officer contacted a 35 year old Richmond man during a suspicious vehicle check. He was found to have an outstanding PRCS warrant. He was arrested, booked and transported to the MDF.

Auto Burglaries - 10794 San Pablo Ave:
At 1213 hours, an officer responded to the report of two vehicles that had been broken into and property removed, during the previous hour. A review of the video shows the suspects in a black newer model Chevy Suburban. They fled north out of the lot.

False personation, Possession of stolen license plates, Possession of an embezzled rental – 11545 San Pablo Ave.
At 0219 hours, an officer located a 33-year-old South Carolina man sleeping in a U-Haul pickup truck. The plate on the truck did not match the VIN. A call to U-Haul corporate revealed the plate was stolen and the truck the man was driving was rented and not returned. In addition, the man identified himself with a South Carolina driver license belonging to someone else. The man was arrested, booked, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

February 21st

Petty Theft - 3020 EC Plaza:
At 1045 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft. A black male, approximately 20 years old, tall, wearing a gray jacket and dark gray pants ripped a Samsung phone from the display and fled.

Shoplifter – Walgreens 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1110 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft that had just occurred. The suspect walked into the store, went directly to the medicine aisle and loaded up with approximately $500.00 in cough medicine. He then walked out the store towards the Del Norte BART station. The suspect was described as a black male, approximately 30 years old, medium complexion, wearing a black beanie, green puffy jacket, blue jeans and white shoes.

Auto Burglary - 1000 block of Arlington Blvd:
At 1121 hours, an officer responded to the report of a residential burglary. In between 1000 hours and 1115 hours, an unidentified suspect(s) broke a rear door to a residence and conducted a messy ransack of the interior. The suspects stole cash and electronics and fled.

Stolen Vehicle / Burglary - R&R Auto Service 6700 Fairmount Ave:
At 1244 hours, an officer responded to the report of a stolen vehicle. On 02/20/17, officers responded to alarm call at a repair shop. A garage door was slightly ajar but the owner reported nothing was amiss. Later in the day, a client’s vehicle, a white 2004 GMC Savana was discovered missing. The keys are also missing from the hook in the shop.

Battery on a Police Officer, Public intoxication, Probation violation – 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 1915 hours, officers were dispatched to Safeway for a male asleep inside the business next to a bottle of alcohol. Officers arrived, woke the man, and told him to go outside. The man walked outside and urinated on the building. Officers arrested a 25-year-old Richmond man for public intoxication and placed him into the patrol vehicle. While attempting to obtain a blood alcohol sample, the man spat at officers, striking one in the face. The man was also currently on two dockets of probation. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

February 22nd

Robbery – 5300 block of Potrero Ave:
At 0627 hours, officers responded to the report of a robbery. The victim was riding in a car with the suspect from San Francisco towards Vallejo. The suspect received a telephone call from their mutual boyfriend who told the suspect to take the victim’s purse. A fight ensued and they pulled over in the 5300 block of Potrero Ave. The suspect tried to take the victim’s purse, breaking the victim’s fingernail in the process. The suspect fled in a gray Dodge Caravan, a rental car.

Shoplifting - 11450 San Pablo Ave:
At 0653 hours, Officers responded to the report of a shoplifting that just occurred. The suspect stole miscellaneous food items and left without paying. An office contacted the man at the Del Norte BART station. He was placed under citizen’s arrest, the items recovered (minus the bag of chips he had consumed.) and he was field cited.

Commercial Burglary - 11351 San Pablo Ave. (Josephine’s Beauty Salon):
At 0932 hours, an officer responded to the report of a commercial burglary. In between 1900 hours on 02-21-17 and 0900 hours, on 02-22-2017, an unidentified suspect kicked open the front door. Once inside, (S) stole a TV, VCR and a set of hand warmers and then fled.

Auto Burglary - 6060 Central Ave:
At 1055 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. On 02-22-17 between 1943 hours and 2000 hours, an unidentified suspect smashed the window of a Mercedes SUV and stole personal property.

Disorderly Conduct – Public Intoxication – 9900 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 1151 hours, an officer was dispatched to the report of an unwanted subject at a Yoga Studio. A 51 year old Oakland woman was found to be causing a disturbance inside. She was previously reported at the Dental office throwing items off the front counter. She was heavily intoxicated, arrested and transported to the MDF.

17-3580 459 PC (Auto) Knott Ave. / San Pablo Ave:
At 1213 hours, an officer responded to the report of an auto burglary. An unidentified suspect broke the window of a BMW in between 1200-1213 hours and stole an apple laptop and a black Gucci backpack.

Robbery - 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1305 hours, an officer responded to the report of a theft. The suspect described as a black male, 40-50 years old, bald, 5’10”, 170, blue jacket, dark jeans, black backpack stole $62.00 in candy. The manager attempted to stop the suspect and recover the property. The suspect picked up a rock and threw it at him and yelled at him.

Auto Theft Recovery - 500 block of Oak Street:
An officer followed up on an abandoned auto which was determined to be a cold plated 1994 Honda Accord that was reported as stolen to the BART PD.

February 23rd

Parole Violation – Methamphetamine Possession, Stolen Mail - 6900 block of Potrero Ave:
At 0859 hours, an officer was dispatched to the report of a suspicious person walking in yards. A 36 year old Oakland male and registered sex offender was found nearby. He was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and a pipe. He was also found in possession of numerous resident’s mail and packages. Officers tracked down the residents and returned their mail. He initially lied and gave his brother’s name, however, he could not keep up the charade. He was arrested, booked and transported to the MDF.

Assault likely to commit great bodily injury - 6009 Potrero Ave:
At 0941 hours, an officer responded to the report of an assault that just occurred. The victim was in the parking lot when he noticed a 47 year old Oakland man chasing a subject through the parking lot. The other subject got away and the Oakland man confronted the victim. He grabbed his throat and strangled the victim. The victim fought and got away and the suspect punched him in the back of the head and then fled. An officer located the suspect nearby. He was placed under citizen’s arrest, booked and transported to the MDF.

Disorderly Conduct - 3020 EC Plaza:
At 1142 hours, an officer responded to the report of an intoxicated subject. A 34 year old Richmond man was to be heavily intoxicated and unable to care for himself. He was arrested, booked and transported to the MDF.

17-3670 488 PC (Plants) - 600 block of Kearney St:
At 1105 hours, a CSO responded to the report of a plant theft that occurred yesterday. Meanwhile, an officer responded to the 10200 block of San Pablo Avenue and contacted a 59-year-old male resident. The victim’s plants were found at the man's apartment which looks like an indoor nursery. The plant was recovered and returned to the owner.

Warrant arrest – I80 / Carlson Blvd:
At 2150 hours, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested a 42-year-old Richmond man for an outstanding warrant. The man was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

February 24th

Auto Burglary – Kearney St / Wall Ave:
Between 2/23/17 at 2000 hours and 2/24/17 at 1030 hours, an unknown suspect broke the front driver’s door window of the victim’s 1997 Grey Toyota Camry and stole a necklace.

Public Intoxication Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Potrero Ave:
At 1554 hours, Officers responded to a report of a subject jumping into traffic. Upon arrival, they contacted a 28-year-old man from Richmond who was clearly intoxicated. The man was arrested and transported directly to MDF.

DUI, Hit and Run, Warrant, Suspended License Arrest- 800 block of Richmond Street:
At 2053 hours, an officer notified dispatch his patrol vehicle was just involved in a hit and run collision with a pickup truck. The truck fled north on Richmond Street and out of the officer's sight. The officer was uninjured, but stated he had to jump into his vehicle to avoid being hit by the truck.

While circulating the area, another officer located the truck parked on Schmidt Lane. The truck had fresh damage and the owner, a 37-year-old El Cerrito male, eventually admitted he had been driving at the time of the collision. He also had a misdemeanor warrant out of Berkeley PD. His truck was towed and he was transported to county jail.

Stolen Recovery, Denny’s 11344 San Pablo Avenue:
At 0228 hours, an officer located a stolen Honda Civic in the lot of Dennys. The vehicle was reported stolen out of Oakland PD.

Stolen Vehicle Arrest, 2x Warrant Arrest- Cutting Blvd/Kearney Street:
At 0436 hours, an officer arrested a 32-year-old Richmond male for driving a stolen scooter, which was reported out of SFPD. He also had 2 outstanding felony warrants out of San Mateo County. He was transported to county jail.

February 25th

Under the Influence, Warrant (X2) – Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 0729 hours, Officers responded to an unwanted subject and contacted a 37-year-old female who was clearly under the influence of a controlled substance. A records check revealed she was wanted on two warrants, one from San Francisco and one from Turlock. She was arrested and transported directly to MDF.

Possession of a Dirk/dagger and Drug Paraphernalia – Knott Ave / BART Path:
At 1224 hours, an Officer conducted a pedestrian stop and arrested a 21-year-old Richmond man for possession of a dirk/dagger concealed in his jacket and a glass pipe. He was booked at the ECPD and released on a citation.

Warrant Arrest – El Cerrito Police Department:
At 2144 hours, A male in his 20’s came to the ECPD to handle two misdemeanor warrants for his arrest from Pleasant Hill PD. Cited and released.

Fire – 200 Block of Ashbury Avenue:
At 0058 hours, ECPD officers assisted with traffic control as ECFD / RFD put out a structure fire.

February 26th

Petty Theft, Possession of Stolen Property – 500 block Liberty St:
At 1146 hours, an Officer responded to a theft of statues form the front porch of a residence. Recognizing the crime to be consistent with others committed by a 59-year-old man from El Cerrito, the officer responded to the man’s residence and located the statues. The man was arrested and field cited. The statues were returned to the victim.

Assault with Less Lethal Weapon – Cutting Blvd / Key Ave:
At 1222 hours, a suspect known to the victim pulled up alongside the victim in a gold Chrysler station wagon and sprayed the victim with pepper spray and then fled in an unknown direction.

Grand Theft – Walgreens, 11565 San Pablo Ave:
At 1200 hours, two suspects entered the business and stole approximately $2100 worth of cosmetics. They fled on foot towards BART.

Suspect 1 was a black female, 5-00 to 5-02 and wearing a maroon hoodie and jeans.

Suspect 2 was a black female, 5-00 to 5-04, and wearing a black and grey jacket, and jeans.

Auto Burglary – 10800 block of San Pablo Ave:
Between 2/25/17 at 1730 hours and 2/26/17 at 1215 hours, an unknown suspect broke three windows in the victim’s white BMW, ransacked the interior, and removed property.

Commercial Burglary – 6100 block of Potrero Ave:
Between 2/25/17 at 1900 and 2/26/17 at 1300 hours, and unknown suspect forced open a back door, entered the restaurant under construction, and stole tools.

Warrant Arrest – San Pablo Ave / Wall Ave:
At 2125 hours, a female in her 30’s was arrested for an outstanding warrant during a pedestrian stop. Booked and transported to the MDF.

Robbery – 7-Eleven 7022 Stockton Ave:
At 1912 hours, a female in her 30’s entered the business, collected and concealed items in her jacket. The employee confronted the suspect and the suspect pushed the employee before fleeing westbound on Stockton Avenue.

February 27th

Vandalism – Tehiyah Day School, 2603 Tassajara Ave:
On Saturday, 2/25/17, between 1600 hours and 1700 hours, two white male juveniles were on the roof of the school and broke a skylight. There was no entry into the school. All indications are it was just juveniles being mischievous.

Display Replica Firearm in Public, Possess Drug Paraphernalia – San Pablo Ave / Madison Ave:
At 1100 hours, Officers responded to a man with a gun and located a 36-year-old man from Richmond in front of the Post Office. He was in possession of two very realistic BB guns and two meth pipes. He was arrested, booked at the ECPD, and released on a citation.

Auto Burglary – 900 Block of Everett Street:
At 2130 hours, an unknown subject smashed a window of the victim’s vehicle and stole items.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle – Potrero Ave / S. 52nd St:
At 0202 hours, an officer located an occupied stolen vehicle double parked on the street. As the officer turned around to get behind the stolen vehicle, the stolen vehicle drove to the dead end of School Street and the driver ran from the car. The RPD and the CHP helicopter assisted with searching for the driver, but was met with negative results. The stolen vehicle was recovered.
