The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

February 27th

0803 Hours: Officer Allum investigated a hit and run accident on the 6400 block of Mayhews Landing Road.

0906 Hours: Officer Germano contacted and arrested a 49 year old Newark male for his outstanding warrant. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1421 Hours: Officer Allum investigated an injury accident at the intersection of Cherry Street and Mayhews Landing Road. Both parties complained of pain with one party being transported to a local hospital for treatment.

1421 Hours: Officer Germano investigated an injury accident at the intersection of Cherry Street and Moores Avenue. One party complained of pain to her back and neck and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

1613 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated the theft of tools from an unlocked vehicle at Towne Place Suites, 39802 Cedar Boulevard.

1738 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated a non-injury single vehicle accident on Edgewater Drive at Ramsgate Drive.

February 28th

0739 Hours: Officer Allum investigated a non-injury auto accident on Cherry Street at Thornton Avenue.

0916 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 53 year old Belmont male for possession of drug paraphernalia during a routine traffic stop on Thornton Avenue at Arden Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

0950 Hours: Officer Ackerman investigated a residential burglary on the 36300 block of Darvon Street. Entrance to the home was made through an unlocked bathroom window. The loss is jewelry valued at $1,500.

0955 Hours: Officer Johnson investigated an attempted residential burglary on the 39900 block of Potrero Drive. Several window screens were removed, but no entry was made into the home.

2125 Hours: Officer Cervantes investigated an auto burglary at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse,
5699 Mowry Avenue. The loss was a computer bag containing a laptop and an IPad that was left on the front seat of the vehicle.
