WEATHER THREAT: Severe Thunderstorm Storm Squall line possible
TIME PERIOD: Today mainly 4:30 - 7:30 PM (still windy for evening)
This remarkable warm weather pattern will break today as a strong cold front pushes through the area around sunset. Conditions are ripe for the development of a squall line and we are expecting one to move through NJ between 4:30 and 7:30 PM.
It is quite likely to see a gust of 40-60 mph with this line of storms and that may lead to some minor damage (trees/powerlines). These storms are already setting up in Pennsylvania and headed east.
In addition, this atmospheric set-up is one where an isolated tornado can not be ruled out. Be aware, that as colder air comes in later this evening, winds are still gusty (30-40mph). The fast-moving nature of the line means flooding should not be much of an issue.
