Good Thursday morning! It is another fine day in Hockley County, and we are off and running this morning. The following are calls for service and activities for the Sheriff’s Office for 2/22/17.

-6800 blk E. Hwy 114, Smyer: Assault. Deputies were dispatched to a residence in reference to an assault that occurred. Following the investigation into reported offenses, one individual was placed under arrest for Assault Family Violence and transported to the jail without incident.

-Hwy 114 at Quail Rd, Smyer: Fire. A deputy was dispatched to assist at a fire location. The fire was extinguished prior to arrival.

-FM 303 at FM 1585, Sundown: Traffic Complaint. A deputy was dispatched to locate a vehicle pulling a trailer throwing sparks along the roadway. A Sundown PD officer located the vehicle and the issue was repaired.

-6800 blk Bearcat Rd, Smyer: Civil Issue. A deputy responded to a residence in reference to a child custody issue. Civil remedies were advised to parties. No offenses reported.

-Hwy 385 at Brazil Rd, Levelland: Suspicious Vehicle. A deputy responded to attempt to locate a vehicle driving in the area following a complaint of suspicious activity. The vehicle was located and it was determined to be a resident in the area. No issues or offenses were reported.

-1600 blk 9th St, Levelland: Assist Levelland PD. Deputies responded to assist Levelland PD officers with a reported fight. Deputies remained on scene to assist as needed.

Deputies also conducted close patrols/vacation watches, directed patrols in areas of the county, investigative follow-up activities, civil process service, and traffic enforcement activities.

Jail population as of 2/23/17 at 0800 hours: 52 in Hockley County, 5 to be processed, and 24 out-of-county.
