The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
February 20th
0745 Hours: Officer Taylor investigated an attempted burglary at Napa Auto Parts, 37300 Cedar Boulevard. Unknown suspect(s) smashed the front door, but did not appear to make entry.
0825 Hours: Officer Musantry investigated the theft of four rims/tires from a vehicle parked over the weekend at 37350 Cedar Boulevard. There are no suspects at this time.
1025 Hours: Officer Hogan investigated an auto burglary on the 6300 block of Buena Vista Drive. The loss is unknown at this time.
1506 Hours: Officers responded to a single vehicle accident at Cedar Boulevard and Thornton Avenue. The occupants were not injured, but several trees were damaged and the vehicle sustained major damage.
1856 Hours: Officer Mavrakis contacted and arrested a 34 year old Menlo Park male while conducting a warrant service at the EZ8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
2058 Hours: Officer Smith investigated a strong-arm robbery that occurred inside of Starbucks, 35040 Newark Boulevard. The loss was an Apple MacBook Pro.
2351 Hours: Officer Cervantes investigated an auto burglary in the BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse parking lot, 5699 Mowry Avenue. The loss is a makeup bag.
February 21st
0851 Hours: Officer Horst investigated the burglary of a storage container at LOV Newark, 8440 Central Avenue. The loss is a soundboard.
1244 Hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 32 year old San Jose male while conducting a probation search on the 36200 block of Ruschin Drive. The suspect was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail.
1300 Hours: Officer Mavrakis contacted and arrested a 43 year old Oakland female while conducting a warrant service at the EZ8 Motel, 5555 Cedar Court. The suspect was issued a citation and released.
1412 Hours: Officer Mapes responded to an auto burglary in the Chipotle parking lot, 34883 Newark Boulevard. The loss is a backpack.
2200 Hours: Officer Khairy investigated a hit & run collision at the intersection of Cedar Boulevard and Thornton Avenue.
2247 Hours: Officer Norvell investigated an auto-burglary in the AMC Theatre, NewPark Mall parking lot. The loss is a backpack containing text books.
