SEVERE WEATHER ALERT: Up to 4 inches of rain expected in Montebello 
SEVERE WEATHER ALERT IN MONTEBELLO
Based one reports from the National Weather Service (NWS), starting as early as tonight, Thursday, February 16, 2017, at 7 pm, the City of Montebello may start to encounter some rain. This may continue at a very minimal rate into Friday evening.
There is a good chance that the city of Montebello could receive three (3) inches in a short time period starting Friday evening at a rate of about 1 inch per hour at times which could cause flooding. Rain is expected to continue into Saturday at a lesser rate.
The NWS is forecasting that our area could receive a total rainfall of about four (4) inches over the life of this two-day storm. We could also experience some winds as well that could cause downed power lines and trees. Southern California Edison (SCE) will be staffed up in anticipation of the results of this rain and wind storm. This will provide you status on outages and service calls, including pending service requests by emergency responders within the City of Montebello.
There are also some predictions that we could experience a follow-up rainstorm as early as Monday evening, and continue into Tuesday. The NWS is projecting that less than an inch of rain will be produced by this storm.
Sand bags will be available to Montebello residents tomorrow from 10 am until 11 am at the Montebello Corporate Yards located at 311 S. Greenwood Ave. Residents must bring photo identification and a shovel.
