ACCUSED: Christopher Willis Age 27, Long Branch, NJ, Paul Kula 3rd Age 26, Colts Neck, NJ

NARRATIVE:
On February 8, 2017 at approximately 1614 hours, Ptl Jeff Kless was on routine patrol in the Borough of Deal when he observed a silver Audi exceeding the posted speed limit on Norwood Ave. Ptl Kless then conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Norwood and Roosevelt Ave.

During the course of the motor vehicle stop Ptl Kless asked the occupants to exit the vehicle to further his investigation. At this time Willis began to flee on foot running westbound on Roosevelt Ave. Following a brief foot pursuit by Ptl Kless and Sgt Kobil they were able to apprehend Willis and take him into custody. A subsequent investigation conducted by Lt. Sharin, Sgt Kobil, Ptl Ammaturo, Det Liptak and Ptl Kless, revealed the occupants of the vehicle were in possession of a loaded 45 caliber handgun along with additional ammunition.

Christopher Willis was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow point bullets, resisting arrest, obstruction and certain persons not to have weapons. Willis was committed to Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending his first appearance.

Paul Kula was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, possession of hollow point bullets, certain persons not to have weapons, speeding, open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and failure to exhibit documents. Kula was committed to Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending his first appearance.
