...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST THIS AFTERNOON...
* LOCATIONS...Northeastern Maryland, northern Delaware, southeastern Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey.
* ACCUMULATIONS...Snow accumulation of 3 to 6 inches.
* HAZARD TYPES...heavy snow preceded by a short period of sleet around 6 am.
* TIMING...Heavy precipitation with a change from rain to a period of heavy sleet and snow is expected between 530 am and 7 am. The snow will be heavy at times this morning before tapering off from west to east during midday.
* IMPACTS...The heavy snow will make a few side roads impassable for a short period of time. The combination of heavy snow and gusty winds may produce some power outages due to the weight of the snow on tree limbs and power lines.
* WINDS...North 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.
* TEMPERATURES...Falling into the upper 20s to around 30 during the snow then a slight afternoon recovery.
* Visibility...one quarter mile for a short time this morning.
