Hamilton County Under Travel Advisory as National Weather Service Issues Winter Weather Advisory Until 11PM Wednesday

A yellow level Travel Advisory has been issued for unincorporated roads in Hamilton County, effective Wednesday afternoon until further notice. This is the lowest level of local travel advisory and means that routine travel or activities may be restricted in areas because of a hazardous situation. Individuals should use caution or avoid those areas. Unincorporated roads are those roads maintained by Hamilton County, usually roads outside cities and towns.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Hamilton County until 11:00PM Wednesday night. A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow may cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities. Snow is falling in Hamilton County and is already accumulating.

As a reminder with winter driving, reduce speeds, leave extra room between vehicles, make sure all windows are clear of snow and ice, turn on lights to increase visibility even during the day, and make sure to keep an emergency kit along with a fully charged cell phone handy. In case of a slide off or crash, contact Hamilton County Public Safety Communications at 317-773-1282 or 9-1-1 for an emergency.
